The serrated edges of the leaves are pointing upwards and are white at the tips, which indicates too much light. Keep an eye on the leaf tips; if they go down again, the
Just a quick note about my leaves again.
I don’t think it was mainly just the light. But that my humidity was at approx. 58% 1-2 times for 2 hours. + a bit too much light. Could this have caused it so much?
Because I just read that for cuttings, the humidity must not drop below 60%. Because they are supposed to be too sensitive.
The humidity has something to do with the roots. Since these (roots) in cuttings first have to grow, the plant still absorbs water from the air until it has enough roots. It’s similar to seedlings, which also have to develop roots first. The upturned serrations of the leaves and the white tips on them are a clear sign of excessively intense light. This is still the initial stage of light burn; if you notice this in your plants, immediately raise the lamp a bit or turn the dimmer down a bit. When the leaves flatten out, you’ve found the right spot. It always takes a while
Ok Thanks!
With your last answer, you’ve actually almost answered my last question. Is it already too sick? And should I rather get a new cutting right away and start over? (Because the soil is still free of all additives) Or will it recover? Hope it can be clearly seen in the pictures.
I’ve raised the lamp to 50cm all day now & throttled the lamp’s minimum to 133ppfd
. But around 5 PM, I stopped watering 100ml per hour, because the soil (at least the upper part) is still too wet.
It looks like it could do with a proper dry back in the medium. Once it has dried out a bit it should perk up fairly quickly. I wouldn’t start again just yet but if you are able to get another cutting rooting there is no harm in having a backup ready to go if needed.
Thanks for the tip.
Last night, I cut off the damaged stem, hoping it would recover overnight. And that it wouldn’t waste any more energy on the broken leaf. In my opinion, it looks like it handled it well. What do you all think? I still need to pay a bit of attention to burning. I already have my light at 50cm & minimum 133 PPFD. I hope that’s enough, otherwise I’ll have to increase the distance even further.
The serrations of the leaves already look better
Hi ![]()
Regarding my water problem. The soil was too dense in the pot. Therefore, the watering water didn’t soak in properly. I have now loosened it up all around with a very fine stick (keeping a small distance from the plant). And now it’s absorbing the water properly.
Thanks again for the help !!!
p.s. If I can ever help someone, I’m happy to do so! Happy to be here!
If your humidity is too low, cut the bottom off a plastic bottle and place it over. If you remove the lid, it gets air and the humidity stays high. If the soil is
Thanks, but I actually have no problems with humidity. Always between 62 - 67%.
Only overnight, where the humidity naturally drops anyway, I might be able to use the bottle. Because my humidity drops from about 65% in the night to about 52% in the morning.
Could I use it only for the night then?
Yes, of course, with me it’s the other way around right now, it always rises at night.
Okay, thanks! I’ll give it a try. I’ll let you know how it turns out. ![]()
