How do you know your feeding optimal amount of fert to your plant?

not really a help question , but how do you know your feeding optimal nutes to a plant in flowering , i mean a lot of stuff i read here is with certain nutes start off with half or less of recomended amount . no one ever says go above that amount , but how do you actually know when you hit the amount or go over ? as every plant genetic must be different , i, as some plants must need more than the fert makers say ?

Leaf burn. When the very tips of your leaves start turning brown you are at the limit of what they can take. Any more and they will suffer so I usually dial it back a few % when I get to this stage.

Less fertilizer is more fertilizer for cannabis. Different strains in different environments have different requirements. There are no rules. Just feed your plant’s with the recommendation of the fertilizer brand you are using and see how your plants react. :slightly_smiling_face:

If my plants look sad, leaves start to yellow/show signs of deficiency, I increase the nutrients. I know if I gave too much nutrients if the leaf tips are burnt.

I determine how much to feed based on my last feeding PPM & the runoff PPM. If I feed at 550 PPM and the run off is 850 PPM, then on the next 2-3 feedings, I will feed at 360 PPM, until runoff is in the 550-600 PPM range.

so trial adn error and feeding guides are really just an estimate as other factors must kick and best way is to let plant tell you ? most of the time ?

That is correct. Any time you chose a new nutrient line, you should expect a learning curve to get everything dialled in.
