Also with the abundance of water roots at the bottom of the reservoir can I Trim those to stop them sitting in any runoff, or should I really just leave them.

If you can’t find any at hydro stores locally go to the chemist, they have small bottles usually in 3 and 6%.
That’s entirely up to you. I leave mine alone and just empty run off completely

I added root roids to my trays last night so they are almost black right now but when they clear up I’ll get a pic of the roots I have at the bottom, I’m pushing them back away from the valves almost daily at the moment. They seem to be drawn to them like magnets
If you are going to keep using it long term it ends up heaps cheaper to buy the higher concentration stuff from hydro shops and diluting it yourself

I use about 8 fluid oz to a gallon of water which is 237ML for every 4L

The bottle I have is only 200ml so could I get away with 3.5Litres
