A little dramatic of a title but I’m in Orange County ca and we’re expecting a tropical storm Sunday-Monday. Any suggestions on what I should do with my outdoor potted plants that are flowering? I have a couple options; under my back deck but they’ll still get some rain and wind, in my shed but they’ll have to be completely dark for 24 hours, or west facing kitchen slider inside?
I would suggest shed or kitchen. Kitchen if able to not interupt dark period or if unable to then put in shed the long dark phase may mess with them but good chance it wont where as under your deck if the get pissed on and no sun to dry the flowers off your risking mold/ bud rot and if there sleep gets interupted in kitchen theres a chance they hermie
I would put them in the shed with the light on during normal daylight hours, they should just think its a super cloudy shitty day and move straight on afterwards.
Thank you guys! The kitchen is dark at night so it would get normal hours of light for the most part and I don’t have power in the shed but have a dewalt work/flood light that I could use. I guess either way it’s just a shitty day for them lol but at least the storm is only gonna be 24 hours
Only thing that would mess them up is an interruption during night cycle say something happen and your lights came on during 12/12 so say you only got 9 hours of darkness then your plants could be stressed say you got 24hr of darkness wouldn’t really bother the plant so worse case if it has to go into shed it won’t hurt it I had a power outage that lasted a couple days right at week 4 of flower my plants didn’t suffer. Good luck bro happy growing.
Thanks! Thankfully it was just a normal rain storm and only rained like 3”. Pulled them inside, they’ll get their 12 of darkness and then right back outside. Gotta love California, people were buying generators and stocking up on groceries for 3” lol
Better safe then sorry
Guaranteed! The only storm prep I had to do was pull my plants in
