Is this ok?

Photometer said 5600 lux

Those are cheap Aliexpress lights I’m using for seedling.

Hello fellow stoner! Well, it could go well, but the best thing to do to give the right distances between the LED bulb and the plants would be to buy some Pulleys to be able to tie the LED and yourself, with a meter, calculate how much exactly the bulb has to rise from the tips of the plants. the plants all the way up. At the moment it is going well because they are still germinating but later buy an indoor tent and two pulleys and that’s it!

Hello!

Thank you for the response.

The light I’m using is really cheap, like $30. If I get it too high, it won’t light the plant

I’m using a meter for the amount of light the plant is getting.

My main doubt is the amount of lux and time

Could you give us the wattage? Because the Lux will change at the distance from the plants as well as the PAR. But you want around 25 water per square footage of coverage you need. But I have heard that even without knowing the exact calculations you can put you hand down to near the top of the canopy and move the light down till you can just feel the heat coming off it. Then make slight fixes to the distance if it is either stretching or burning. Vivosun has a great 100watt light for only like $89 and it will cover a 2x2 ft area great. But it’s likely a 100 watt light or under so you’ll want it like 10-14 inches away. And as close at 6 inches when flowering. But for germination you could use a normal lamp and a normal lightbulb and put the lamp above the plants and they would have enough light to grow. You need to more worry about the light they will need after a few weeks.

Ok, if you are calculating how much light your plants need and you have doubts, here are some notes so you can calculate the PPDF and DLI yourself.

PAR photon efficiency.

What we are referring to with this idea or concept is how efficient the lamp is by converting electrical consumption into photons of PAR light.

The higher the conversion, the higher the efficiency, the lower the consumption, like the LED.

How to calculate the Efficiency in HPS and LED.

Its calculation is simple, just divide the PPF (HPS=90,000lumens/0.0122=1098PPF) by the electrical consumption of the lamp in watts.

HPS lamps give between 1.4 to 1.8 ÎĽmol/W.

The most efficient LED diodes are capable of producing up to 2.8 ÎĽmol/W. Every year new models come out capable of producing more ÎĽmol/W .

PAR photon efficiency is the most important element to take into account when choosing a lamp , the more efficient it is the less electricity it will consume.

Example: 600w HPS bulb with 1.098 PPF: 1.098/600=1.83 ÎĽmol/W

Example: LED 260w LED with 728 PPF: 728 /260=2.8 ÎĽ mol/W

How is PPFD calculated?

It is basically calculated by dividing the PPF by the area in square meters.
For example, a 600 W HPS lamp gives about 90,000 lumens, which is equivalent to a PAR of 1098 ÎĽmol/s and serves to illuminate approximately 1.2m 2 , therefore, now we will divide the PPF, which is 1098 ÎĽmol/s, by the surface to be illuminated. in this case 1.2m 2 which will give us a PPFD of 650 ÎĽmol/m 2 /s.

Ejemplo: Bombilla 600w HPS 1.098 PPF: 1.098/1.2 m2***=915*** ÎĽmol/m2/s (PPFD)

Ejemplo: LED 260w 672 PPF: 672 /1.2 m2***=560*** ÎĽmol/m2/s (PPFD)

Calculate DLI

In indoor growing, where the lamps illuminate with the same intensity throughout the day, the calculation of the DLI is simpler, just multiply the PPFD by the number of seconds of light in the photoperiod, and divide the number times a million to go from micromoles (ÎĽmol) to moles (mol).

Example: 1000w HPS 915PPFD/12H=91543200 sec/1,000,000=39 DLI bulb*

Example: 600w HPS 549 PPFD/12H=54943200 sec/1,000,000=23DLI bulb*

Example: LED 260w 331.8 PPFD/12H= 33143200 sec/1,000,000=14DLI*

Bad light equals bad weed. $30 light is $30 ounce. $300 light is $300 ounce. Think about it that way and you’ll be okay

Lighting is one of the most important aspects of growing indoors. Like @Mjcalifornia said the better light the better results.
The only measurement I worry about when it comes to my lighting is PPFD , I use the Photone app to measure it and the main problem I had was getting enough for the entire cycle. My next run I’m gonna be using 2 of these in my 5x5

They will provide enough coverage for 4 plants.

Hey guys!

I’m from South America, and it’s pretty hard for me to get good lights. But I have a couple passable lights. But I have had a few bad experiences with lightening in the past. I’ve been trying to grow for about 3 years now, I had one barely successful grow, since it got lots of mold by the end of flowering. After that I think I killed all the seeds by using too much lights.

It’s not legal to grow weed here, and it makes it hard to get good seeds. I had 2 left, almost 2 years old. And I got two from “prensado” (South America users will know ), that I didn’t believe would germinate, but they did. Damn strong plant.

Since I didn’t trust they would germinate, I didn’t want to go through the hassle of mounting an entire tent just yet.

So I’m doing what first worked: planting m germinating with that cheap light.

I have 2 questions:

1 how long can I keep them here, before going to the tent?
2 When is a good time to start nutrients?

Thank you very much for the answers. You guys make this the best community to be.

Do you know if their autos or photos? Are they sativa or Indica?
I would already have them in my tent for the environment provided in there.
As far as nutrients just depends on what kind and brand your using.
Everybody loves to help , but the more info you give us the better we can help.

I found this link maybe it will help with your seed situation , not sure though.

They stretched ?

Are you able to get an app called “Photone” on your phone?
If so I would get it so you can measure the light strength. Right now they should be getting around 300 ppfd and their needs are only gonna increase the farther along they get.
I’m suggesting this because if they dont have enough light they will stretch to get it. I would keep a close eye on them until they get a little stronger.
You’ve got true leaves coming in now so that’s a good sign there :+1:.
Be careful how much you water right now because to much can cause them to fall over and most the time it’s not able to recover , it’s called “damping off” . Someone else can explain that better than me , I’ll just get you confused :rofl::rofl:

This is the amount of water I’m giving them.

I’m mounting the tent now.

I will post how it ended up and ask more questions after

Looking good :+1: that’s about what I do on mine. Looking forward to seeing your setup.
