Starting to get a little taller now. I plan on adjusting my training ties today. All in all I’m pretty happy with my tent thus far. Plants seem to be happy and healthy. Temp 72f rh65%
Just re tied them and gave them a healthy feeding. Looking like they gonna grow like crazy over the next week! Looking forward to it!
Looking good bud and looking forward to how they turn out for ya
Thanks Smokey.
I realized yesterday that I had not adjusted my lights out of my lower ppfd/Dli that I had set for early veg. Re adjusted the dimmer and set around 500ppfd. And Dli of 32.5 at the canopy. Does that sound like it should work out?
Yeah that should work out fine. You can tinker with it and dial in the numbers closer to higher recommended ppfd, lux, and dli if you want to play around with the enviroment but what you have it at now will do just fine at least my opinion on it lol
I can go higher on my ppfd. Plus I’m about 24” away from plants at this time. Could also lower the lamp. Just unsure on how intense of light the plants can take. Without causing too much stress.
Completely understandable bud since each plant may react differently to what another plant may like. What you have now is a good setup and should work well overall so you shouldnt have to mess with it for now and just keep checking them for any signs. I have my enviroment setup id say in the “good” condition range i assume but i may play around with ts600 light and see if giving a blue dream the higher end of the spectrums will give better results than the one that will be in the “good” enviromentlol
My next hurdle is humidity. Here in the Pacific Northwest it stays quite humid. 60-65% is ok for veg but once flowers come I need to get this down. I just bought a dehumidifier for the room my tent is located. Figured if I dry it outside the tent it’ll help. Then just venting to remove the moisture the plants produce inside.
Should work and if having trouble getting it down or maintaining the levels you can always add more airflow in the tent so the moisture is constantly moving. Im having the opposite in the north east this time of year RH is 30s and below and just popped 4 seeds into soil now ordering a small humidifyer
Well luckily for you, humidifiers are much cheaper. Lol I bought one as well for the seedling stage. But it quickly became useless…
Well once again I have a question about what to do when you have so many branches and you can’t give them all light. Without removing the large fan leaves. But I’ve read and been told that defoliation isn’t recommended on autos. I’m trying to tuck the leaves but the nodes are so tight I’m not getting much airflow through to the soil. So many leaves…Any opinions? Or experience
Ideally you want as less stress as possible but you can defoliate an auto just do few leafs every other day like 3 or 4 leafs and tuck any that are able to be tucked and you should be able to open up some airflow. Since autos have a short lifespan they can be tricky at times but as long as your not cutting her up alot you can get away with doing photo training techniques on autos. Ive trimmed my autos when leaf tucking or tying down/away is not an option
Honestly you said tying down the leaves and it made sense. Lol I didn’t think of that. I tuck them but they just pop back up and they are big. The size of my hand! Blocking multiple bud sites because of how close the branches are. But airflow concerns me also due to high humidity. I’ve opened a vent and turned my fan up. I’ve dropped it to 61%. Getting closer dehumidifier arrives Wednesday!
The creme de la chem auto i grew had fat fan leaves and just like you i was worried to defoliate an auto and tucking didnt work so i tied them out the way like branches lol. 61% is fine as long as the air is circulating inside the tent. I use the small clip fans for the lower half of my plants as its not to powerful and just need it to keep the air moving so you should be okay
Awesome thank you Smokey. I appreciate the advice.
Well another day down. I know defoliation of autos is usually not recommended I feel I may have to. On one plant (bottom right in pic) I just uncovered many bud sites that were completely dwarfed by my large fan leaves and leaves of other branches that are growing. The leaves on these newly discovered branches are all crinkled up and twisted, almost knotted together. Guess I need to continue tying the branches and leaves until they all get a bit of light! It’s difficult when they are so small not much length to separate the branches much. The plant top right is well spread and growing great, taking well to the lst. Though not as many branches… top left is my in between plant. It has many branches but isn’t showing much in the way of vertical growth. Very tight mode spacing. The bottom left plant pictured. I snapped this stem above the first node. It’s healed and is growing nicely just re tied the other day. Please feel free any comments or suggestions are welcome.
Thanks @timo for your support….
That bottom right one i think your right with having to do a light defoliation. I took a copy and tried to circle 2 leafs that look like if removed will open up some space in the middle and another spot. I couldnt get line thin enough so i just marked with 2 blue dots lol. 1 or 2 or even a few more wont hurt her to bad if at all its more if you do to much at once and plant using more time to heal but removing 1 or 2 every few days as needed wont impact her to much bud. Heres the photo of the 2 i suggest and hopefully others give there opinions
Plants look healthy so minor removal shouldnt set ya back much maybe few hours depending on the amount of stress
