Indoor auto grow

Just wanted to share the start of my grow. 2 cookies gelato, 2 watermelon auto from RQS. I’m on day 16 since sprouting. Will start first training tomorrow on all 4 plants. This will be my first time so any training advice is appreciated. Growing in 50/50 ocean forest/ happy frog. In fabric pots. Under sf2000 LED.

They look very good so far. I just topped them at this time and started LST with a scrog net at the same time.

For my case it was enough. I had no time for more, but it worked. I’m guite satisfied with the result. For sure there are another training experts. You can do much more with wires and ropes if you have mood and time for it.

I have a net as well. I plan on using it once they grow a little more. How far do you bend them over when tying down? How flexible are the branches at this stage?

I just did it by my own feeling. You will feel it. The branches are very flexible in veg state and early flowering state. I moved the net up step by step. Finally I removed the nets. Maybe it was a mistake, but all plants and branches was very stable after removing the nets. Tomorrow is harvest time. I will see more if I pull out the roots from pot. I hope to learn something about it.

But our difference is the kind of plants. You have autos (Indoor auto grow). And I was growing photoperiods. I think it’s a big difference.

I’m at week 18. All conditions in numbers and datas will follow. And my grow was not perfect. But I’m 50% :joy: satisfied

Thank you for the advice. I appreciate it.

Got the stems braced straight and the tops tied over. All I can do now is wait for the results. Also fed them a 50% solution of strive fertilizer ph 6.2. Looking forward to see the future growth.

Well… I broke the stem while trying to “tighten up” one of my plants in lst. Should have left it as is. I’ve released all ties and supported it on its stem hoping it will heal itself as I have heard they can. It’s a sad day. But I learned my limits I guess…

Tape it up and it might come good, ive broken a heap over the years and a lot of them survived. If you wait until the plants are thirsty and due for water they are usually a bit bendier in the stems making your job a lot easier.

Well it’s been 12hrs since I snapped the stem. Plant looks great. No drooping leaves or anything. Looking like it may pull through.

I’m not sure what other people will say about that. But I didn’t looked every 12 hours for the plants. Sometimes 24 hours or 48 hours. Even at training. @Crackadoo But it’s just my own opinion, because I’m even not a professional gardener for vegetables. Cannabis is very easy compared to vegetables - let’s say outdoor. Indoor is for both much more easy.

I’m growing indoor. I looked for the plants every 24 - 48 hours. For me - a very bad farmer it was better to do less directly with the plants.

But I’m really just talking about my personal case. @Chauncey

Well all four plants are still growing. Even the one I snapped the stem on might be stunted but isn’t dying.

I’m finding the plants are not growing very tall. One is stretching a bit. But the others are short. And very little distance between nodes. I’ve reduced the intensity of the light hoping to make it stretch a bit. Was this a good idea?

Less stretch means more weed don’t change anything

My only concern is that I’m at my 5-6 node but they are only about 3” tall. Only about 1/4” between branches/ fan leaves. The smaller branches on all but one is dwarfed by the large fan leaves and tucking them isnt working.

You have a couple of options really. My first move would be to raise the lights a bit which can make the plants grow longer node spaces or lower the light intensity if you don’t have space to raise them, that will have almost the same effect just doesn’t work quite as well in my experience because by adjusting the light height you can fine tune spacing with a bit of practice

Or better use a ppfd dli meter or this great smartphone app.

Front camera at the top of the plant 90°

I have the Photone app and I had them set at around 300 ppfd. I have room to raise the light just seems more cost effective to dim it. Unless there is advantages to using light at the fullest power possible if your height allows?

It kind of depends on the dimmer settings on your light, dropping the power can achieve the same thing just not with as much control. For example my light has 4 power settings which doesn’t leave me with much room for adjusting ppfd whereas raising the light can be done in tiny increments if necessary until i reach the sweet spot for what i want

Cool. So basically depends on what your working with as long as you stay within appropriate ppfd levels for the stage you are in. I’ve turned my light back up. Hoping tight mode spacing will work out once it starts to stretch for flower. Right now I’m having difficulty training due to the next branches and leaves are growing 1/4-1/2” between each other. I’m also worried about airflow through the canopy. I currently have my tent at 72f and 68%rh I can’t get much warmer but I just fed them so rh is spiked for the time being.
