Yes you can. However, its not recommended for Autoflowers. Since autos aren’t photosensitive and don’t rely on light cycles to induce bloom, they basically flower when they want.
They veg when they want then flower when they want. Anything you try to change/factor in won’t change when it goes into flower.
Autos typically have a brief vegetative phase before they begin to pre-flower. This means every bit of veg time is crucial as you want to get the most out of that stage for your plant so its strong and ready come flower.
Topping redirects hormones but also creates stess and requires a decent amount of recovery time. For photos its no big deal let em heal cause you can veg em as long as you want. But for autos this slows the plant down significantly as it heals and begins its two new tops. You don’t want to have any recovery time slowing the plant down taking from its veg time.
Best course of action with Autoflowers is using Low Stress Training (LST).

Low Stress Training is fairly simple, it’s just a matter of being careful with the stems as you do it.
Easiest way to put it, is you take the main stem, and tie it down so that all the side branches underneath start to receive light.
Cannabis plants naturally go towards whatever light source is available. So once you bend the main stem down, the next day the stem will be facing up again, youll then tie that main stem back down so it doesnt go back to growing straight up.
As you continue to keep that main branch tied down, you’ll notice more and more growth coming from the side branches. Your overall goal is to bend the main stem to let everything underneath get light. Once everything underneath continues to get light and grows, you will also want to tie those down to spread them out as well. You’ll eventually end up with a even canopy of main colas rather than one main cola.
Avoid LST in the flowering stage as you risk high stress or breaking a branch. Once Cannabis goes into flower their stems will harden up a lot in order to prepare for the weight of buds. Always LST during veg when stems are more flexible and tolerant of bending.

Auch wenn sich DerThomas sehr deutsch anhört - I go on with english. LST goes in this direction what you see on my photos. It’s not very good, but I just want show you how it works basically. I’m satisfied with my LST result over all

Die bilder sehen mega aus ich bin noch recht neu und habe bei meiner nächsten Bestellung 3 Automatiks dazu bekommen und hatte solche nie vorher es handelt sich dabei um 3 F1 Milky Way. Die sollen von Haus aus schon echt viel ertrag bringen aber jeder Verkäufer preist seine Schafe hoch an daher hatte ich überlegt zu toppen oder sie „normal“ zu lassen.

Ich bin gerne für jeden Tipp und Hilfe dankbar da meine Erträge irgendwie nie wirklich doll ausfallen trotz topping und LST und und und… daher ein wenig frustriert da die ganze liebe und Arbeit die rein gesteckt wurde am Ende nicht belohnt wird

@DerThomas - es gibt hier auch eine deutsche ecke. Die helfen dir auch sehr gut weiter und sind alle Mega nett.

Das wird mein nächstes Winter Experiment. Du kannst auch warten bis ich Ergebnisse habe. Ich werde es auf jeden Fall hier auf dem Forum teilen.
Kein Dünger mehr. Kein gießen oder topf wiegen mehr. Keine Zeitumstellung mehr. 18 Stunden Licht und die Pflanze nimmt sich ihr wasser was sie braucht durch Blumat
Das muss ich noch hinzufügen damit dir die Pflanze nicht verbrennt. Start in einem 1L Topf mit einem Light Mix und wenn sie den Topf komplett eingenommen hat, topfe sie um in einen z. B 15L Topf mit von mir aus Dope Soil - da gibt’s auch schon andere Hersteller.
