Leaves drooping during the day but perking up over night

If you don’t have a growlog please answer these questions.
What strain are you growing? Is it Auto, Fem or Reg?
A few different unknown strains and 3 at least are feminized and autoflowering
The 3 known strains are: White Widow CBD, CBD Kush, and Critical Mass CBD

Are you growing Indoor or outdoor?
Indoor, in a grow tent with a 1000w HPS light and a ebb and flow system for watering.

Are you using nutrients? Which ones? How much?
Flora Trio + Calmagic all 1/2 tsp per gal for week 4

Basically I’m trying to figure out why the leaves seem to be drooping during the day and perking up over night when we turn off the grow light for 8 hrs. Everything I seem to be finding says that leaves normally droop over night but not normally during the day, so trying to figure out what’s going on or why this would be happening.

Example of them first thing in the morning:

Example of them in the evening:

Tbh it sounds like they’re doing this in preparation for lights off. I believe they do this so they can focus their energy internally, since they won’t be getting light for a period of time.

Correct me if I’m wrong. Because then I need to know how to fix it because mine has been doing this too

Just checked and the tips of my plants are drooping just slightly. Getting towards light out now. Not huge droop just little bit. I checked earlier today right after lights on and my girls were perkier. I didn’t really notice it until now

What are your temps during the day? And what are they at night?

From the 2 pics you posted I can’t see much difference tbh… Temps shouldn’t fluctuate more the 10 degrees during on/off periods…

Temps stay between 70-80 degrees. Not too much of a fluctuation even during lights out periods.

And good to hear from others that it’s at least mostly normal. I couldn’t find any good info about this.

If they’re dropping before lights off it means they’re getting too much light, try shortening lights on by an hour. Autoflowers are especially prone to this since they don’t demand as much light as photoperiods

It’s kinda a gradual thing throughout the day, and reducing the light would be an easy thing to try, so we may try that

Why do Cannabis Plants Droop at Night? | Vanessa Nielsen.

"The real mystery is — why do the leaves droop at night? Over the years, scientists have proposed several theories to explain this phenomenon. Darwin suggested that drooping could help keep plants warm at night. Drawing the leaves closer together can reduce the exposure of the leaf to the cold night sky. This is similar to a group of people huddling together to keep warm. One experiment showed that vertical leaves can keep a plant about 1°C warmer than if the leaves are in a horizontal position [2]. However, aside from this early experiment, not many other experiments have confirmed these results. This theory still needs further testing!

Another hypothesis is that when leaves droop, excess water rolls off the leaf. Research shows that water droplets on the surface of leaves can reduce photosynthesis during the very early morning before the leaf surface dries completely. Reducing leaf water may also help prevent the growth and spread of pathogens, like powdery mildew [1]. However, once again, this theory needs further testing.

The theory with the most evidence says that leaf drooping could prevent herbivory from small animals and insects. This is because a vertical leaf may be harder for an animal or insect to access and eat. A vertical leaf might also give less shelter for the herbivore and so the herbivore might become dinner for another animal"

Yeah, I read that but the thing is for ours it is the opposite they droop throughout the day but perk up over night which is why it’s so confusing to me and why I ended up posing here.

I could be wrong but besides a little droopiness in the evening I think I see the color is on the lime green side instead of on the darker green side which is probably not enough calcium and or magnesium. Could also be possibly that they are not receiving enough light.

The fact that they start the droop maybe because of overwatering and they don’t have enough time to dry out and end up sitting in water. I’m not saying that’s the case but something to check on just to make sure that’s not the case. Could also be changing temperature but drastic change from like 80° down to like 65°, will so do that.

They supposed to droop at night which is normal but that’s not the case here, they are drooping during lights on which is not supposed to be happening so those are the things I can think of that are causing them to do that and if none of those things I mentioned is the case then I would just keep monitoring them for the next few days and see if they stop drooping but if they don’t keep an eye to make sure they don’t progress into something worse and if they don’t then don’t worry about it. Things like that do happen from time to time but as long as it’s not showing detrimental and result then just roll with it. I’m having some tacoing going on because I added a little too much dolomite lime when amending my soil and now my soil is at 7.0 pH which is a bit too high and I’m getting a little nutrient blockage which causing my leaves to Taco but not to a point where it’s ruining my crops and after speaking to a few pros and showing them my pictures they have confirmed that I can just ignore it because if I start trying to adjust it I will do more damage and possibly kill the plants. I hope this was helpful.
