Lollipopping/defoliating after switching to 12/12

Growlog link: [ Reboot #1 growlog - Grow with Jane ] But it’s pretty much empty of actions. At least you’ll get all basic info on setup.

So I’ve decided to move my plants to bloom by switching them to 12/12 light wise. They’re not very big (25cm/10in high?) but they have been manifolded (8 colas each) and they’re 2 months old already and if I want to be able to have another full cycle before leaving this summer I need to harvest this batch in 2 months max… and I need to know asap if they’re females or not (one I think is a leftover seed from 10 years ago, of Skunk #1 feminized, the other is probably from a bud I harvested from that same seed… or one I bought when I stopped growing… so it’s anyone’s guess, really)

Anyway. I’ll be switching their nutrients at next watering too (in 24h probably).

I was wondering about lollipopping/defoliating: do they need it already? If not, when? If yes, which leaves should I remove? I’ve read about it and understand the theory but have trouble applying it to my specific case :upside_down_face: (and I don’t remember how I did it last time I grew something 10 years ago)

Thanks!

It’s too early to tell the sex but I wouldn’t worry about lollipopping or defoliation, those pant need all the juice they can get during the stretch!

In that case, I would wait to defoliate until the stretch is over, so 3 weeks after switching to 12/12.

I would agree with everyone up to this point. I wouldn’t defoliate anything yet. You don’t have a lot to start with and will need the leaves to grow for flowering. I don’t think they’ll be finished in 2 months. Most take 8-11 weeks of flower to mature fully and some can take 12 weeks or more to mature.

Thanks everyone, I’ll leave them be for the time being then :face_with_hand_over_mouth:
They’re small but bushy, that’s why I asked, but I can see they need more “fuel” than bigger ones would.
I also put my light on 150W mode, turned on the “bloom mode” (some additional red leds) and started the proper nutrients (“bio bloom” and “top max” on top of “bio grow”).

I really hope I can be finished earlier than in 3 months, the contrary would throw a big wrench in all my plans, but hey that’s life I guess, that’s how we learn

I’ll keep you posted!

Just to update you all!
I harvested both, they yielded about 25gm each once dryed, trimmed and cured.
This will not last long enough to wait for the next batch but hey :woman_shrugging:t2:
Thanks again to all!

Ps : here’s the second one after light trimming, before drying and further trimming.

Looks good and don’t worry, patience is key with growing! Soon enough, you’ll have too much weed lol
