Hi,
Im new user and also first time grower. I recently bought a used 200x200cm tent with a hydrophonic system called Wilma. I have a Lumatek ATS Pro 300W and a fan with filter from AC Infinity. Also I’m using an osmosis machine. The nutrients are from “Canna”.
I’ve documented my progress in the growlog. Please have a look there as well.
At the current status I have to manage the humidity and temperature. Living in a relatively warm country with an outside temperature of around 20°C - 68F, I’ve got the tent’s temperature around an average of 26°C - 78.8F. However, humidity is proving to be a puzzle for me.
I’ve seen recommendations, with some sources suggesting humidity levels between 50-80%, while others lean towards 40-60%. Growithjane.com’s guide even suggests the latter range.
Given my setup and the stage that my seeds were transplanted into pots, what humidity range do you think would be optimal? I have a humidifier that I can run for 24 hours. Or is this not recommended?
I hope I can find answers with this app/community. I’m trying to keep my log most updated as possible so everyone can see what I did / or not did. And I’m looking forward to get a part of the community
As for humidity, it’s best to use a vpd chart. I use vpdchart.com but there are a bunch. Just change the sliders for your temps and you will see what target RH to aim for.
Then just set the humidifier to that and leave it be until you need to change it.
Awesome, I checked also other sites but this one seems to be the best. Easy to use. The only problem I have is that I don’t have a tool to measure the leaf temperature. I would need to buy a IR thermometer. Is there anything I have to pay attention to or can I get a simple one? The calculator has also the option to link air temperature and leaf temperature. That’s what I did for now. It’s 2 degrees difference
Hi, I have some problems and questions. I will post my log entry with some comments:
The small one is still not growing from my plants. The seed also doesn’t show any changes. I’m not sure here if the seed is gone or I should wait. The other two plants are growing. I adjusted the light a bit today with help of photone app.
I’m concerned about the EC measurement. On my calculator from canna it says ec+ 1.1 and EC total 1.2.
My current measurement is 1.7 or 17.
How can I reach this level which is recommended? I think that’s why some of the small leaf from the plants look a bit burned
The level of humidity and temperature I keep most of the time in a good range. The website linked in the other post in this thread is really helpful
Manufacturer’s charts run hot to allow the nutrients to be tuned depending on media, feed method and frequency. A large soil pot fed weekly requires a higher ec than a hydro or soilless system.
The chart gives you the basic recipe with proper NER . . . ec tells you how hot it is . . . simply add water to your nutrient solution to reach target ec and retain the proper nutrient efficiency ratio.
Best advice…ignore the manufacturer when it comes to EC levels.
I do the following.
Veg 1.6-1.8
Flower 2.1-2.2
Ph 5.8-5.9 (for hydro)
Best thing to do is post a photo of whats happening since 1.7 shouldn’t be showing nutrient burn unless the ratios inside the nutrients are way out of wack which ive seen in some lower nutrient lines. I checked you’re log but it only has seedlings and no plants So im unsure where you are seeing the nutrient burn?
Also looking at the photos in the log, are you sure its 200x200? that tent looks a lot smaller than mine and mines a 150x150x200 (photo for reference)
Ok interesting. I bought the set used and the guy said he stick to the calculator on the website. But either I maybe made wrong calculations or he made it different. Here is the calculation and results
Anyways, no problem for me to try it in a different way.
So with 1.7 i’m in a good range at the moment and I can keep it like that?
Now I’m also curious how I have to prepare my water next time. My plan is to change the water in the next days. I have 40-50 liter osmosis water ready. The system can take up to 50 liter but I think 30-40 liters is a good amount.
How do you prepare your water when you change it? Would you put the nutrients in the 40-50 liter tank or is it better to mix it with a smaller amount and higher concentration? And then to add the concentrate to the “pure” osmose water in the tank.
for seedlings you can do 1.3-1.5 area then jump up to 1.7-1.8 for the rest of veg.
I personally dont use osmose but my method is i have a 20ltr bucket. I fill about 5ltrs of water into the bucket, then mix my nutrients into the water and give a good stir, then i open the tap up full to fill the rest of the bucket up and as its filling it will mix it in as well. Once it starts to get to the top i put my EC pen in and watch it. I stop when it gets .1 away from my target, then i slowly add a little more water till i hit my target.
I took a look at the photos you mentioned, that isnt nutrient burn…sometimes after germination the interal layer of the seed can sometimes get stuck on the water leafs. Just ignore it since water leafs will be gone in a few weeks anyway.
It’s been a few days since my last post, and I’ve updated my grow log with recent pictures and a brief summary of my activities. Here’s what’s been happening:
Plant Maintenance: I’ve topped the plants and pruned the lowest leaves.
Environmental Conditions: I’m maintaining the pH around 6.0, and humidity levels are stable. Currently, I don’t have an infrared thermometer to measure leaf temperature, but I’m keeping it consistent with the air temperature. I expect my thermometer to arrive in a few days. My current EC measurement is 1300.
Plant Growth Observations: As of today, the plants seem to be doing well, though I’m unsure about their growth rate – they don’t seem to be growing too fast, but I’m concerned they might be growing too slowly.
Leaf Issues: I’ve noticed changes in two plants:
One leaf has a burnt/dry tip.
Another leaf appears somewhat wrinkled. These issues are documented in the grow log, especially in the photos from December 13th. Both affected leaves are large fan leaves emerging directly from the node.
Pruning Query: Should I prune more leaves, particularly the fan leaves? I’m unsure if the issues mentioned above are normal for larger leaves or indicative of a problem.
Lighting Concerns: I’m wondering if the light setup might be contributing to the slower growth. I used the Photone app to measure PPFD at plant tops, yielding these readings:
Back left: 676
Back right: 603
Front right: 580
The front right plant, with the lowest PPFD, is noticeably smaller. Could this be due to suboptimal light positioning?
I’d appreciate any insights or suggestions you might have, especially regarding the leaf issues and lighting concerns. Thank you for your continued support and guidance!
Please can u help me?
Hope you’re good. I need your help. My plants have shown this problem
those in their second month of growth have shown some similar seeds. Is it normal? Or is the plant male?
.
I hope someone is reading this… Or the community is more than dead As already written, it’s my first grow and I don’t have good sources for information, so some help is really really appreciate.
So my problem is, my plants grow too high. They are now almost at the same level of the plant. I put the pictures in the grow log. I’m really desperate now. I hope I don’t have to throw it all away.
The leafs don’t look burned yet. But i don’t know how fast this happens.
For now I just put the light from 100% down to 75%. I can reduce it by 25% steps.
If I knew anything about hydro I’d help , but I don’t want to give the wrong info and kill your plants. I know how much work they are and don’t want to destroy what you’ve put in so far.
I can say this is a great community and will help a lot but the more information and pics we have the more we can help.
