The only reason to use it is to take advantage of more light. If you are using more light than necessary without additional Co2, you are throwing your money away on electricity. I have 3 exhale bags in my 5x5 tent. I have a Co2 meter coming so I can measure if they are making a difference. Flying blind right now.

This is totally new to me! I’d be interested in seeing a thread showing your progress.

JH2 is a growlog

Without Co2 you’re fine at 900 PAR of light

Have any of you guys used the DIY version with suger and yeast?

To answer your question… No, you do not need to have additional CO2 to grow high quality cannabis. You should only need to supplement CO2 when your plants are receiving enough light intensity.

Additional CO2 is used when your plants are getting above roughly 1000par which relates to the intensity of your light. The SUN on a clear, hot, summer day gives off 2000+ of this same measurement. Most grow lights will show you a chart of a PAR test which tells you your lights output. Most home growers are likely not going to shell out the money for lights that offer this light intensity & quite frankly you don’t need it.

There is a lot of information available about this and I’m going to give you a link to a YT video that I highly recommend from Utah State University regarding this topic as well as other cannabis related knowledge.

IMO, don’t worry about CO2 when you’re new to growing. Until you get a very strong handle on the fundamental grow process and plant care you absolutely won’t reap the rewards of adding it. Focus on perfecting your current environment and when you get to a point where everything is essentially perfect you can consider making the investment to a strong light and supplemental CO2.

One last thing. I don’t recommend using CO2 in a grow tent. You will be wasting money, it should only be used in a sealed room. (Lots of people disagree on this but I have watched many of my growing friends learn the hard way)

Good luck!!

An update on the Co2. My tents are in the basement. I wanted to know what the Co2 levels were so I bought a meter. Up stairs where my wife, cat, and I spend our time the ppm levels were 900. Downstairs outside the tents the ppm levels were 600+. Inside the tents with 3 Exhale 365 bags the ppm levels were 400. Therefore, one has to wonder what the levels might be without the Exhale 365 bags inside the tent; probably less. On one hand, I’m glad they are in there, however if there was plenty of air circulation with the outside levels at 600 coming into the tent they should be fine with out the bags. The problem is that when your bringing air in you are usually taking air out. So, I guess my consensus is to build a better grow room where temperatures can be controlled with heaters and air conditioners, bring a lot of air in and dont worry so much about exhausting. But then there is that smell to contend with haha.

You will be 100% fine without it.

What kind of light do you have? Type/Brand?

I would say to try and get as much air from outside the tent into the tent and control the humidity and temperature.
