I can’t afford an ac unit was wondering about buying aluminum stretch ductwork and tie into my ac in attic but I’m new and don’t know if there is a better way
When growing in a tent you need to control the environment in your lung room (area around the tent) to maintain proper growing conditions inside the tent. If you’re in an unfinished, non air conditioned attic I’d foresee heat issues the entire grow.
Primary issue with tapping into a duct is no thermostat in tent. You have cold air blowing until the house is cool, then turning off until the house warms up. An uninsulated grow tent in an attic and running lights will likely get hot faster than your homes interior so the AC won’t come on when the tent needs it to, nor will it shut off when/if the temps drop too low.
You also have to consider the HVAC system’s design, properly installed ductwork is flow balanced. If you alter tor add vents/ducting to your system it may become inefficient in part, or all of the home.
Stellar response! I agree. @Kevsnookpro973 I think you should patiently and properly build out your grow space before growing
Thanks bro that makes a lot of sense and I was really informative and I definitely agree can take down the consideration I’m just on a budget grow and you know I can’t afford a H a mini AC unit that’s for $500 and I’m saying but I could get a 20 foot of you know 6 inch piping in the fan and try and connect it to inside AC that was my dear but that was informative and thank you bro
Hi @Rickyirish420, not sure you read the entire thread? Yes, an inline fan is essential, but, he is in an attick. If the inline fan is exchanging air that is the same or higher in temperature, he will still have a temperature issues. He needs to be able to control the grow room/grow space/lung room in order to control 1 or more grow tents… or he would need a Humidifier/Dehumidifier/Air conditioner inside 1 tent… but yes, would still need an inline fan to exchange the air… which Can cool the tent, IF the grow room is a cooler temp.
Gotta vent it outside
Agreed. Venting the air in the grow space outside of the grow space is the main goal.
What would you suggest if the temperature of the grow space is 100 degrees fahrenheit but you want the tent to be 78 degrees fahrenheit? Add more inline fans? or add an Air Conditioner?
Thanks guys it makes complete sense. I’m not thinking ahead to get in-line fan with the veg or a mini AC unit on sale somewhere that you guys have any ideas I’m open to anything thank you God bless.
If an attic is your only option I think you’ll have to find a way to enclose and insulate the space around your tent, then cool that space.
Maybe add a ceiling vent and pull cooler air from below? Also connecting a whole-house type exhaust fan to a gable/roof vent to pull heat from the attic/fresh air in would help some
Frozen bottles of water
Ac if you don’t have the option to vent outside
I start getting nervous when my temps get close to 80🤣
Wow 100. I’d have a nervous breakdown🤣
Use a wet towel over the fan. Like a evaporator cooler
@Kevsnookpro973
I realize I’m a month late and don’t know if you got you inline fan yet or not but Amazon has a 195 cfm 4 inch inline filter kit that comes with 8 foot duct , fan , filter , digital monitor and rope for hanging for $80 it’s an off brand iPower. And for cooler temps Walmart has small personal space AC units. Don’t know how big your tent is but that might help with the high temps…might need more than one though. Just some food for thought.
