ahhhh im so excited.
so im experienced is gardening itself because i grew up w it. buuuuuut im a first time grower of cannabis plants.
i got a seed of wood shiva and decided to try to germinate it just to see how my luck would be and oh boy that mf germinated FAST. within few days i think the first root was growin so fast i had to like rush to put it in dirt lol. i had planted the seed down at night maybe like 10? it was late but i had woken up and went thru my day until it was like 12 (middle day)and i went nd looked at it bc im nosey and it was a whole seedling. i never expected to get this far and im very proud of myself.
sadly idk what gender the plant is so well see.
i need to get better supplies meaning a better medium because ill have to replant into a bigger like pot/container. better nutrients. lights ect. i dont exactlyyy know what to get but i have a idea. but im not the most rich person so any advice on what i should get?

Welcome to the community and congrats on your seedling i think your gonna love this hobby (most do lol) as for pot sizes you’ll get a few opinions, i prefer 3 gallon or 5 gallon pots others prefer 10 gallon or higher (all are acceptable pot sizes) fabric pots are ideal although there is a company that uses a different breathable material but i forget the name (someone shared the info on here) if where you live gets pretty hot id stay away from black pots as they hold and attract heat.
As for nutrients there are so many options our community mod @Rasta_Free-Man prefers strive nutrients and he will probably explain why (he’s very knowledgable) i use foxfarm nutes & down to earth dry amendments, foxfarm pretty simple to use and easy to understand feeding schedule. Its fast acting (as well as a lot of others im just familiar with FF brand) so if plant needs something asap bottle nutes come in clutch. I prefer DTE dry amendments cause i want to make the switch from bottled nutes to slow release nutes and feed the microbial life in my soil plus I’ve learned it takes 3 weeks to fully break down so it gives me an idea how much N-P-K is being released each week and I’m on a budget lol.
As for soil again so many options i personally use FF happy frog & ocean forrest mix others on here go with promix or sohum or other brands (hopefully they will chime in) the FF i know last 3-4 weeks before needing nutes so its my personal choice plus its the only soil ive used so cant speak on other brands.
As for lighting don’t skimp on a good light most lights arent what they say they are (youll see 600w lights for cheap but reality is they only like 200w or less so def do research into a good light if anything (i switched to outdoor grows i use a cheap light for seedlings before kicking them out the house) but a good light and soil helps a great deal with indoor grows.
When you decide to transplant might want to bury about 75% of stem or up to first set of leaves reason i suggest this is seedling looks a little stretched out (its very common) and doing this will prevent it from bending over from not being able to support its upper body and that buried stem will create more roots for your plant.

Cannabis is just one of those finicky plants that has many preferences… unlike Tomatoes, which are much easier to keep happy.

HELP! the seedling has been doing good ive just been using outside lighting because i get lots of sunlight where i am because im buying lights for it SOON BUT it downpoured yesterday and i thought the plant would be okay bc it wasnt even fully in the rain and i didnt think the rain would yk run one up and beat up my plant but i just grabbed it and the first true leaves are destroyed. i dont know what to do im currently sobbing. ill show a picture of the leaves. help plz. also the soil has tm water bc of rain. do i just like let it dry on its own?
Something, cat, grasshopper, caterpillar, etc. has been eating the leaves, don’t think the rain did that. She’ll recover fine if you keep the critters away.
I agree with them looks like critter ate some leafage if it was raining day before could be from slugs and as for rain i went thru same emotions as you for about 2 weeks earlier this month and after looking into rain and cannabis plants i learned rain has a lot of oxygen in it so all the water you think the plant got wasnt really that amount. Veg stage rain can be good for plant growth do to oxygen in the rain but when plants are budding you wont want them to get rained on
update. i found a bug. the bug i found was like idek it was a pincher bug so i think he ate it. he isnt gonna eat it anymore i killed him. but do you know what like product or like substrate i could get to keep those types of bugs away ? all bugs really.
i did not know that rain had oxygen like that thank you for all the info i needed it. but for budding it shouldnt get rained on? would i be able to switch it to indoor grow lights from being outdoor for like when its raining or what ever ?
You can bring indoors just not sure if the switching to artificial lighting will have an effect if in pots i moved mine to the garage until rained stop or was very light rain. Outdoor growing can be tricky when it comes to weather like for instance say your in bud stage and plants get hit with light rain then sun comes out for rest of day plants will be fine but if rainey and damp for a few days with little to no sun then plants could get fked up but if unable to move plants could always cover them with a tarp or even a big enough bucket with side holes for air
okay thank you. i have a porch that has a roof over it but still gets plently of sunlight i think that might be okay… connecticut weather is very confusing it rained the over day and it said i was gonna be downpouring allll week going into next week blah but its 82 out rn.
Im in MA so we basically get same weather, im on NH line so some days youll get rain from the south and wont reach me and vice versa. We was supposed to get rain today but its 82 and humid so i dont trust my weather guys
