I Love that i found a place for all this information. Please forgive me if i do not know if i’m posting in the right area or asking the right questions. I live in Michigan and by chance had a seed from a dispensary flower purchase. it germinated in like 10 days back in beginning of July. My question is based on the pictures will i have something to cut down and harvest by our upcoming “frost time” approximately. i understand it will be best guesses as every area is different. i do not know the strain, but i normally buy sativa strains. i docked it once it had grown just past 7th node. i fertilize with standard fertilizer once a week and it gets full sun pretty much all day. regular 10 gallon potting soil. haven’t found any critters on it yet, i.e. aphids and such. if im in wrong area can someone send me to right area of forum for these questions?
No idea when you’ll see frost, but my guess is she looks to be about a week, week and a half into flower. Guesstimate a sativa dominate hybrid to take about 65+ days to finish. If you expect unfavorable weather during the next 55 or so days I’d start thinking about ways to get her through . . . a nightly move indoors or a DIY green house could possibly get you a couple extra weeks if needed.

I wouldn’t chop anything off her , (just my opinion and NOT the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to the science of this) but I would give her another week or so to see what fan leaves are blocking which flowers from getting the full light they need and start by removing them, I wouldn’t go chop happy I’ve heard if you trim too much you can make the plant think it is back in vegetative stage and then also if I am correct I wouldn’t prune any further than about two to two and a half weeks into flowering… (Help me out here guys am I right with that last part) that’s what I did with mine and her buds are coming along very nice after four weeks hope this helps welcome to the site you definitely will find a bunch of solid dudes here that will be willing to help you with anything you need good luck
Affirmative. I am an Edward Scissorhands tho! I cut ALL the older veg leavea off. Not for the beginner. Timing on defoiltion is critical! I have 5 semi outdoor. Wannabee cup challenges. The Dutch Treat looks like it will finish. The GDP, Shishkaberry, and the Herijuanna look like they will need help! I live in a very similar climate to yours. I think you are a bit colder, and further north. I moved from out west. And plants there usually grab a gear at the end so to speak. But nobody is exempt from harvesting premature bud. I like to look for colors to change. Then I break out the scope. A descent camera will take close pics. I used a 40x eye loop for a time. The scope is well worth the money!
Thank you both for the posts, here is a few more days of growth. yeah i think your right about not taking anything further off of it. I did start to notice a gnat problem which i think was from overwatering, so i did some research on here and it sounds like Diatomaceous earth is the best route, so i put some of that on the soil yesterday and we will see what happens. i also saw ladybugs patrolling the plant too, that was 2 days ago
Welcome to the community, you’re in the exact same boat I am, dispensary seed experiments! Great people here to help. Nice looking plant, it looks she is about to pop. Like others said I would wait to defoliate. As far as temps don’t let her get too cold at night. I’ve been playing with a 25f swing some nights, but my girls are outdoors. However. I might bring them into the garage if it gets any colder than that.
Thank you Antipop. Everyone keeps talking about defoliating my plant. When should I start thinking about it and how much? I also have questions about a possible hermaphrodite. I’m attaching some more pictures of nodes. I can’t tell if the protrusion from lower nodes is pollen sacs or not. Any ideas?
Well I’m definitely no expert so I played around with my pruning, but like others, I only cut off really low leaves that got no sun and others that were blocking bud sites. I spin mine around each day so I haven’t had to take too much off.
As far as the sex, again someone else could probably know for sure but the first pic looks like a leaf to me. The second pic I just can’t tell…
