Outdoor autos

Hey blunt! Maybe one day I’ll go indoors but for now (with 4 kids) I’m stuck outside. My autos seem to be booming big time right now tho so I’m happy. Only my second grow tho so hopefully I’ll have another 50 years of growing to learn and adjust!

give them plenty of light and healthy doses of nutes.
i use 8 natural sugars to enhance the flavor and aroma.
love AF

Outside is better imo than anything we can do inside it’s just harder with not being in control. I wish I could replicate my outdoor results inside that’s the goal anyway

My first plant, don’t know the strain but it’s an auto.
to my eyes it’s s clear ?
Do you think I should leave it a while longer?
I realize all strains are different but approx how long from clear until they start to turn opaque fhen brown ?
Thanks

I see mostly milky but I’m blind lol. I’d wait until all milky and some amber. Theres an article on this site and I found a few on Google. Congrats, you’re almost there and it looks beautiful!

I’d go longer. Zooming in on that photo I can see some clear in there and not a lot of amber.

Should I hit my autos with some cal mag?

Good Job. once you try it, there is no turning back. your hobby will just become a way of life

as we head deeper into fall I"ve upped my game on lights. I had some inside that I started late. I ran a hybrid indoor outdoor system to get sunlight but also a full 15 hr or more. then I move outside to switch but the switch started later than natural so they’ll have to move back indoors soon/eventually to finish out their last couple weeks. I don’t want them to get frosted

depends on how the leaves look, the plants and the soil. I bought a small bucket or crushed rock. it’s fine like flour. it is gaia green brand and it is basalt rock dust. it has cal mag iron and manganese. sprinkle a little on the dirt surface, scuff it a bit and water it in. reccomended by a guy at the nursery

I’m gonna switch to the Gaia green after I use up the strive that I have so probably will start that in the spring

I have probably this grow and one more before spring even tho I’m growing outdoors. Can’t wait for spring now that I’m getting the hang of it!

Autoflower and super Autos will only have a 2-4 week veg then into flower. topping is Not an option with autoflower, there is no time for recovery and veg growth on a top when its just on its 3rd node then changing into flower. Fimming can and has been done lots with mine and i always do a FIM at week 1 pre flower, and depending on size more than the top. i never toy with my af after werk 2 pre flower.
A F will have a short 1 - 2 week preflower cycle and after than its 6 - 9 weeks flower fepending on strains.

If your light is to close / bright the AF will not stretch as much and so a short small plant will normally be the results. 18/6 is a great cycle for AF and gives plants time for stretch. Once into flower the AF can stretch up to 3 x its veg hight. I have a 4 ft 3 inch tall AF now and yet harvested 2 last week that where no more than 2 ft tall but very dense.
medium, nutes, foilage treatments will make or break a Yeild with af. Photo we have more time af we have none.
hope this helps

Thanks Davil! Yeah, mine started slow but have taken off big time. I have two photos and 4 autos going outdoors and all of them look great. This is my second grow so I’ve learned a lot and invested in some good soil. I also got a composter and found out the nursery across the street from me has a huge compost pile that he said I can help myself to. I’m gonna reuse this soil and add some compost and a bag of happy frog soil. I didn’t realize how complex growing could be and I love it. Also nice to apply everything I learn to my normal garden and landscape!

Thats great however i just wanna point out after growing af for 6 years now, Compost soil/dirt is worse than coco perlite.
A Autoflower grows 7 x faster than photo and so using Composts and Dirt/soil mediums actually starves and compressed root system More than coco coir.
There is not much time to use the nutes provided in composf / soil mediums with an AF. they need allot 20x more nutes than photo and so i found using compost soil mediums have stunted, reduced yields, cause more issues and More deficiencies / toxitities with the af.
Photo Love compost soil mediums because they have the time to use those nutrients over the 10 - 11m period and draw and need less nutrients to be happy.
this is just from Personal experience experimenting with different types of soils / mediums over the last 6 years. each year i do 3 sets of 7 plants and have tried everything from so called super soil, to store baught to pure compost ect… Nothing works better than coco perlite and good high npk nutrients for high yields, bugger plants, fatter denser buds and trichomes explode. just sharing my opinion

take a look at my pics.
the plant in the purple tropic tent that girl is a photo white widoe in Pure poop. Sheep and cow woth perlite and coco.no soil dirt…

the Plant in the white light tent, that tall plant is a AF in coco perlite, the one to the left is 1 week from done and had a really rough grow but still 3 ft tall and very tight dense flower.
I use Ludicrous nutes and floop with sensia 2 part bloom. each nute is for different strains and types of plants af or photo.

Got it, thanks for the info. I’m new to growing and af so I definitely appreciate it. I’ll have to start reading up on that and adjust my medium accordingly!

Holy shit, beautiful plants! I’ll definitely adjust my soils on my next grow. I’m in Southern California so can grow outdoors year round so will be start my next batch soon and will start reading asap

I just order a few bags so I’ll be using that for my next grow since I’ll be doing all auto since it’s ā€œwinterā€ here

Just research what was posted here. Everything including Dr Bruce Bugbee state autos use significantly less nutrients. Everything says start them out at 1/4 dose before bumping that up. And even then most experienced growers will tell you autos never need the full dose of nutrients. And I would run a side by side of coco vs soil because IME soil with salt based nutrients has worked better than my buddies who grow coco. But that could just be me or the genetics making that difference. Also plants only stretch in preflower 1 time. Not once in pre and once in flower. That post reads like an ad vs someone giving you genuine advice. Especially when a person has to justify what they say without it being called into question. Just saying I wouldn’t waste my money on anything without thoroughly researching it and deciding on my own that it’s the way I personally want to go. Just thought I’d chime in because something seems amiss.
