Plant Race 🏁

Has anyone ever thought of or did a grow race? Like pick a day, pick a strain, and GO! First one to a cured bud, wins, almost!

The second and so on placers can still win, by growing a healthier looking plant. I mean i dont got all th answers, i just woke up with the idea and was like, hah this could be fun!

Sounds interesting… I would watch. I am more interested in how much I can grow, not so much how fast I can grow it.

It would be interesting to have a “Grow Challenge: One Plant Yield”, like who can grow the most amount of flower in a 5 month period, off of one plant in a 5 or 7 gallon pot, or “Grow Challenge: One Tent Yield”, who can grow the most in a 2x4, 4x4, etc., again, would need a time frame from seed to harvest… anyway, just thought of this now…

What about sexiest plant? Should be a certin size/age

There’s now so many challenge ideas for growing! I like em all!

Would the race results work with a time + yield, scoring. So you could have a plant finish a little later put have a huge yield. And end up winner, sure you could do just time, but that just seems wasteful on the plants.

Hottest plant competition tossed in there, various race categories, I can’t say I’d participate myself or not. But I’d be happy to help figure out the guidelines.

It just sounded fun and needing of sharing!

You could do a set time for veg and see who can pull the most dried and trimmed weight when its finished, getting a level playing with strains would be the hard part because most people who have been doing this for a while would have a big advantage working with their heavy yielding favourites otherwise.

I love the idea! But everyone should use the same strain and pot size. Otherwise It’s to easy to cheat.

First I have to get my factory running properly. Then I can do things like that.

You would really have to not only set a pot size but you would have to make sure everyone was growing in the same exact medium. If it’s open to any medium, people running hydro would have an almost unsurmountable advantage over organic and soil.

Lets just say, no hydro…

But dirt belongs outside . . . not in my grow room.

Start restricting growers and it’ll be a non-starter.
No hydro or Soilless? Dirt only?
Hand water only? Wicking or drip systems allowed?
Sealed grow rooms w/CO2 ok? Or tent setups only?
What about lighting? Budget lamps only?
Do we set a limit on experience?

Just saying if you regulate medium you have to go the whole nine yards.

There’s really no way to have a level playing field with so many growers with individual experience levels, setups and methods . . . would be something to do for fun, open to anyone who wanted to play and to see how things go for everyone . . . not a keep score, win or lose contest.

The only way to level the field is have categories. One category for hydro and one for straight soil. 2 winners, since it would only be for bragging rights lol.

I say pick a start date and an end date.
Pick a seed, grow it HOWEVER you want, but record your process so theres no switching one plant for another. Could have a few categories, so there could be a few winners, unless someone takes them all!

•Largest yeild
•Prettiest buds
•Prettiest plant

Keep it simple for the first race!

My line of thinking, was each person would need to figure what strain, medium, and techniques to use to result in the fastest biggest yield one could pull off.

Like the racing days of old, everyone had different cars qoth different engines, but the strategy and skill pulled of a victory.

I like to think someone with their choice of medium and a good set of techniques with the right strain could win vs someone with a typically faster growing method. Admittedly Im still learning all the different methods and time they take so not sure how much faster one is to the other, but I’d think it could still be overcome but the right choices. Like the story of Old John Henry lol we’ll just ignore that he died in the end… but he won!

I don’t know who might win . . . I’ll watch and place side bets.

Fast harvest means Indica as some Sativas will take longer to finish out mature buds than it would take to germinate/veg/harvest some Indica strains . . .

Harvest at 10% amber? No early birds chopping baby bud . . .

Early bet: Northern Lights, 30 grams dry, harvested 68 days from germination. Unless one of these “fast flower” strains they have now shows up to steal the day.

This exactly though, there could be a strategy to thw whole. Maybe the best fix, is like with races, a distances or in this case time line to meet or exceed if yer slow lol

It’d be fun to watch, i dont think I’m that good of a grower yet to actual race someone or a group lol. But if id sat on the idea, well lets be fair, id forgot it haha.
