Pressing kief

I recently shook a load of trim from a friend’s gorilla zskittles crop and got quite a good amount of kief so decided I would have a go at pressing it into solid blocks. I knocked up a little home made press from wood and used G clamps to tighten everything down and the end results wernt too bad.

Ended up with 6 half ounce blocks, was wondering if anyone else had any other methods they’ve used in the past with good results?

definitely, it stinks to the high heavens so it needs keeping in an airtight container, so when in rome and all that

That looks awesome! After using an aluminum pre-press with limited success I’ve been using the hot bottle method to turn my kief into hash.

Ive only ever bought and smoked it before ive never really had a chance to work with it so pressing it seemed like a nice straight forward method to go with first. Does it take long to roll into hash? ive seen alsorts of wierd and wonderful techniques, shoe hash being my favourite and most eccentric lol

personley i love putting it in a rosin bag and pressing it with hair straiteners XD get some wicked stuff anywhere from shatter to butter to goop lol also when im lazy i put it in a jar cover ot with some 99.9% iso shake it up for a few mins then put it through a coffee filter and leave it to ivaporate in a warm place for a few days … leaves you with some awesome goop :slight_smile:

Well i can safely say ive never heard of any of those methods before but they all sound pretty straight forward. il have to give them a try with the trim from my blueberry og when its done, only had shatter a handful of times up to now.

Yeah check out Frenchy Cannoli on YouTube. He has a couple videos on how he makes temple balls using a bottle of hot water and turkey bags. Good stuff :+1:t3:

Back into welding/fabricating for a while up til Christmas, so taking advantage of the environment and bits going spare in the scrap bin to make my “hash press Mk 2”. Its about half way done there, few more bits to fit and some material to plasma off. Same size just should give a neater more precise look to the finished product and be alot more durable than my wooden one.

All done thanks to some downtime before dinner break and all courtesy of works scrap bin, one man’s trash is another’s treasure and all that, just needs a coat of paint to stop it rusting and it’s good to go. Can’t wait to try it out :slightly_smiling_face:

Looks good. What are you using to apply pressure, bottle jack? I was toying with the same idea but using a c-clamp.

C clamp does the job no problem, lets you control the consistency and density quite precisely with little turns to add pressure.

@Littlegee1988. Looks like you got a few nice blocks there!! Been toying with the idea of doing some pressing. How much trim would you say you needed to make yield 20 grams?

thats hard to say, depends on the quality of what youre using, more trichomes visibible on the trim or whatever youre using the better amount youll get. ive had one batxh give 3 ounces and a similar amount of lower quality weed give just under two.

@Littlegee1988. Thanks for the reply. Would you have any idea what the weight of your “raw material” was? I’d be happy with 2 ounces on my first run. :grinning:
