Runoff ph from soil little lower than i would like…

Hey everyone just have a quick question on my run off ph. Recently the tap water here in my city has been damn near perfect ph wise reading from 6.3 to 6.7 highest I have seen it the last cpl months was a 6.89. That being said I have not had to use any ph up or ph down in my water since the water seems to have ideal ph. I always let the water sit no less than 48hrs before giving it to my plants and the ph always holds steady between that 6.3 n 6.7 mark. Today is week 3 since sprout and the first time i decided to measure the ph of my run off. The runoff read 5.55 which to me seems a bit low but the plants look just fine.

Do I need to get control of this before it causes me problems or am I over thinking it and since they are just fine now they will be just fine throughout the grow?? Any advice is appreciated

Hey man. I know some ppl will measure ph of the run off and others who say it doesn’t mean anything. I have the same issue, when I put my feed in, I’m at 6.1 to 6.3, aim for 6.2, but my run off is usually under 6. Buddy at the grow store said that the plant feeding on the nutrients in the soil impacts the ph of the soil and that’s why the ph out doesn’t match the ph in. Not sure if that’s true or not. I think as long as the ph is right going in, you’re good. Happy growing!

Thanks bud I appreciate it. I actually decided to feed at 7.0 to 7.1 for a cpl of waterings last week and got that runoff sitting nice at 6.6 to 6.8 now n im happy with it haha

Sounds good. Let me know if you notice any difference in the plants over the next week or 2. I have been told to never feed above 6.5 because the plant isn’t able to uptake the nutrients properly past that point, so interested to see if that ph affects their feeding at all.

here you go, aim for around 6.2 and you are golden.

Shouldnt be raising like that ever to balance out ph, if you want the soil at a certain ph you need to input that ph into the soil. Also ru off is an extremely inaccurate way of measuring ph in soil. Get a two prong soil tester and go that route. If you measure ru off amd see high spikes in the ph and ppm, you probably are flushing out valuable nutrients that plant was going to use. Waste=Money, anyways people will disagree with me on this im sure but like ive said before if you are inputing the right levels and everything is golden going in, why be concerned what comes out the bottom. We go to runoff because most people use salt nutrients and that keeps th salts from building up and locking the plant out.

Thanks for the advice guys I’ll definitely keep from doing that again n just continue to feed at proper ph levels

Yes. Plant break the medium during feed! And that will impact ph and ec!
What i usually do is water them between 6.2 to 6.8. Never water them with the same ph lvl. Try to flush them with water at 6.8 to make it go up.
And then 6.5 and 6.2 and so on…

I mesure my soil ph with a normal oh meter for liquids. But i use 1 part soil 2 parts of destiled water and let it stay for 30 mnts more or less! Then drain it to a glass and mesure
