Small holes and tears in leaves

Adjusting humidity will always be cheaper than trying to adjust temperature too. A humidifier or dehumidifier is never going to use the power that an ac or heater will.

Do you run different vpd when lights are on vs off? Buildasoild charts has different readings for each. Or do you keep it consistent vpd regardless?

I’ve only done one full grow with the controller so i was focusing on lights on vpd and just letting it drift naturally during lights off. That was dropping it by roughly 30% during lights off which the plants were really liking.

My light off time is during daylight hours too though so that would affect the amount of difference

I’d shoot for vpd in day and let it go at night

This is how it’s done! I also let my light’s run over night. This way It’s not going to be to cold in cold winter night’s and not too warm on hot summer day’s!

Yeah, my darkness is 1-7 pm right now as well. Question, when you say drift off you just have the exhaust fan and controller off when the lights are off?

I don’t shut off the exhaust. I set a humidity trigger so it doesn’t get to humid. You could even have a cycle of 5-10 minutes every hour to keep the tent with fresh air if humidity isn’t an issue with lights off

Got it, I already adjusted my settings and will mess with it from there. Thanks for the guidance as always!

I do the same and set my exhaust controller to kick in above 60%; my temperature is between 20 and 22C. Which puts me at 1.03 VPD on this dynamic chart. VPD Chart

My girl is looking better and I just gave her 2L of grow nutrient so will see in a few days if the leaf colour improves as you suggested @BFT. I also defoliated a bit as it is very crowded and clumpy. I will post a pic in a day or so.

Looking a lot better. Still not perfect but I am happy with progress. She needs some defoliation which I will do at switch in approx 2 weeks. I followed your advice re VPD and am now happily at 23C/65%, good for late veg. Thanks again.

Just some more advice, I would defoliate 1-2 weeks before flip and 21 days after flip. This gives the plant time to recover from the stress defoliation causes. The 21 days after flip allows the plant to stretch fully before causing more stress. Otherwise I think you are on track for a great harvest.

Thanks a lot BFT. I’d planned to do the first defol of lower leaves just before switch based on Nebula from GWE’s recco with the main one 3 weeks into flower as you suggest. Why do you suggest 1-2 weeks before flip for the first one? Time to recover before stretch?

Yeah the time to recover makes the stretch easier on the plant. It let’s the plant reach it’s potential.

Good growth but leaf tears and holes are back.
2 days since last feed at 6.5. RH at 59%, 22C. No sign of gnats or other insects.

Hi all. I think I found out why my leaves had tears, holes and pale colours. When resetting the light timer to 12/12 for switch to flowering, I realised that the unit was set to ‘always on’ on the side switch, so the lamp had been on for 24/7 since germination! I must admit I stupidly had never taken a look during the intended dark period. My bad. I suspect that the leaf issues were mostly due to continuous light stress and too high DLI. This could also help explain her short, bushy form. I’ll be interested to see how she recovers during flowering, hopefully stretching a bit.
So a good learning is to double check the side switch on your timer!

I think we’ve all done that before! Glad you figured it out, enjoy the stretch! My favorite part of the grow

Sincere thanks to you guys for your great support and tips. She’s looking really nice 1 week into flip and seems to have recovered from any light stress.

She looks great and that’s gonna be a massive plant!

Thanks again MJ. I’ll post a pic when she’s near harvest. I’m very happy as it is my first indoor grow in the tent.
