Hi guys, newbie grower here. My plants are in early-mid veg. I’m not quite sure because I lost all of my previous data that’s on my other phone. I tried doing some LST today, and made an oopsies… I accidentally snapped the stem, but not all the way through, it’s hanging on by a small piece. I used a twist tie to hold it together, and then electrical taped around it… I’m hoping it will recover, but it drooped and wilted instantly. Any tips and advice for a novice grower? I’ve gotten this far and I don’t want to give up yet. My other plants are doing pretty well, so fingers crossed my Blue Dream makes a full recovery. Thank you in advance for any any help
Welcome to the community!
We need a pic of the damage to make a determination.
Welcome to the community and sorry to hear about the snappage but we’ve all been there so no worries. Pics would help but if unable to if there was still some plant tissue held together there is a good chance itll bounce back in a day or a few but if ya see it getting worse its probably to damaged sadly.
There was some tissue attached, it didn’t fully separate. I wanted to find a solution as fast as possible before it was too late to reverse the damage. I do have a picture of it in the splint, but not sure if I did so correctly.
I have a picture of it in the splint. It’s kind of janky and was put together quickly but I can attach with this message. It makes me sad lol
The tape will work 90% of the time, if its really having trouble standing i add a skewer or something to brace it with and tape that on as well. I’ve done it a million times and its usually fine after a few days. That branch can also become the stronger of the lot if it recovers because it’s basically been super cropped and forms a good hard knuckle which are really strong points.
I was reading about it possibly supercropping. I’m hoping that knuckle forms. My heart dropped when I heard that snap. Thank you
I know it’s hard to see something like this happen. I have broken the main stem a few times, slightly. The plants turned into monsters.
My plants never looked super sad like yours does. I would give it a day or two, and if there is no sign of recovery, kill it.
I have thrown a bunch of subpar or my mistakes in the garbage. Not worth the time nutes and electric.
When you are planning aggressive angles in your lst a little bit of pinching and bending similar to super cropping can make them a lot less likely to snap.
I agree. I have some more seeds, so I can try again in the next batch. And yeah lol she looks really sad. If she doesn’t perk up in the next couple days I might have to terminate it. I appreciate the advice
I’ll keep that in mind for the other ones lol
