Squat/stocky plant, lights too close?

Growlog link: [Screwdriver OG growlog - Grow with Jane]

I started recently this new plant and I’m surprised at how short it’s growing.
Do you think my lights are too low and I should put them higher to force the plants to stretch a bit or is it good this way?
Also I’m surprised by the leaf shapes on the first two “levels” (nodes ?)
Thanks! :folded_hands:t2:

Yes, I would say, raise the light a bit higher or turn down the dimmer.
It also looks a bit yellow, which could also be due to the photo.

 otherwise, good luck :four_leaf_clover:

Thank you!
The picture is more yellow than the reality but I’ll make sure to keep an eye on this.
I’ll put the lamp a bit higher in the meantime.

Try taking a picture with flash. Maybe that will help to make the colors look more realistic

Lamp is up about 15cm.
Here’s a pic with flash, thanks for the tip it works great!

15 cm seem a little too close to me.
But it depends on the light; what the manufacturer recommends is usually good to follow.

Mine recommend a 30cm distance to achieve the values from their measurements. If you’re too close, you’d have to measure yourself (PPFD).

Can you dim the light?

 no problem.
I often see pictures with a yellow tint and think that one should photograph with flash more often :joy:

For my light, it’s 40 cm for seedlings to early growth, 30 cm during growth, and 20 cm during flowering. Usually, the manufacturer provides such information in the datasheet or the light’s description. If necessary, check online.

To what power level have you currently set the light?

Sorry for the confusion. Translation got messed up I think: it’s 15cm higher than it was before, so it’s about 35-40cm from the top of the plant

There is a free app to measure your ppfd which is how much and how intense the light is for the plant. The app is called photone. You can tape a piece of printer paper over your camera as the diffuser to get a ball park. Then Google ppfd for seedling, veg or flower and you’ll be able to dial in your lighting.

Right, I have it, I totally forgot :woman_facepalming:t2:
I’ll try it out and let you know. It’s its appearance that made me doubt. Also the first TWO set of leaves were not the 5 points ones so I was worried since I’m counting nodes until I can start manifolding :face_with_hand_over_mouth:
Will keep you posted, thanks for the reminder!

Ok so I’m at 700 and 600-1000 appears to be optimal for veg growth from what I read. So now I should be fine :crossed_fingers:t2:

700 should be fine for now

I have noticed that with one of my lights. One tent looks a completely normal colour and the other looks like I’m using an old hps or something without my flash.

Yes. The camera sometimes can’t process that correctly.
Then your one lamp has more warm white and the whole image is already in the orange color range.
That’s why I always turn on the flash.

Like this.
My wedding cake auto, yesterday.

You see, the colder flash light counters the orange of the lights in tent.
So it’s nearly real colours
