Still stuck in flower?

Hi everyone. I am currently finishing up my first plant which is a photo. Mistakes were made but I learned a lot. About 3 weeks into flower, I decided to get rid of a few of the bottom stems as I felt that they were not going to do anything as far as producing. I thought it was a great time to give cloning a try and I had read that you can get photos back into veg by taking them out of 12/12. I had tried cloning once before when I topped the plant but that didn’t amount to much. This time I took more care in my process (thanks @canagen for your cloning pictorial) dipped the ends in raw honey and placed them directly into peat pods (last time I just put it into water). 2 weeks later the roots were coming through the webbing in their peat pods. I put them in pots and moved them outside. One in a 5 gallon bucket and another in a 20 gallon with white clover and chamomile for cover. It is my intention to leave them outside until September and see what happens. About a week ago, I topped them. It was a little early for that but, as mentioned, they were in flower when they were cloned and although the tops were very small they were showing pistils. Over the last week, the new growth looks all gnarly as shown in the pics. To my beginners eye, they seem to think they are still in flower. More pistils have developed and they seem to have a light dusting of trichomes. Now, being outside up here in Canada is certainly not giving them 18 hours of sunlight… more like 15 max. Is it essential that they get 18 hours to flip back to veg? Or am I totally off base here and it’s something else I’m dealing with. Maybe I should have initially put them in smaller pots in the grow box under 18/6 for a couple of weeks before moving them outside?

Thanks.

Whoops. Don’t know why the pics didn’t load. Here they are (hopefully :yum:)

Normal. Your clone is reverting back to veg as you say. It will look weird for the first few weeks but will soon regain their composure and start growing normally. It will sprout funky looking leaves at first (singles,tri-leaf, smooth edged, gnarled, etc.). You’re doing good. I myself am a klutz when it comes to transplanting and prefer to plant into their final pots as soon as they can go in. You just need to be mindful of your watering practices and not drown them.

Cheers and glad things are working out for you.

Just a follow up. As you predicted everything has sorted itself out and both plants are doing very well. Trying a little beginners LST on the one in the 5 gallon (not the blue 20 gal). Not to worry about the white dots if you can see them, neighbour is getting stucco done on the exterior of their house and there’s little bits of styrofoam blowing all over my yard.

Thanks again for putting my mind at ease a few weeks ago @canagen
