Hello everybody,
Just a little insight into my new found love of growing!! its about 2 years on now from my first attempt. Just 3 random seeds in a pot wondering what would happen apparently skywalker og.
Had no issues with pest this time and was a straight forward grow with the final results totally exceeding my expectations!! As of this i decided to invest in a professional led grow light, x2 mini fans, mini heater and and temperature controller. I also built a new grow box from an old wardrobe witch was abit bigger in size. From that day the box has stayed the same and these are all the trees that iv grow from start of 2023…

Iv probably spent around £150 for everything so far. The only thing id like to know more on is nutrients and feeds as i just water my plants with filtered rain water atm. Any info on that matter would be much appreciated
There are a ton of nutrients depending on what you’re looking for. I’ve used Fox farm and strive as far as synthetics go and I started dabbling in Korean natural farming and jadam as far as organics go. Build a soil has some awesome organic products as well. Just depends on your preferences and budget essentially. I started growing last year and got a ton of guidance for nutes from this community! From my experience the synthetics are cheaper and easier, but with the downside of being synthetic and less natural. Organics tend to be more work and more expensive but with the huge benefit of being organic. Just my experience though, and this is only my second season of growing outdoors
Nice one thanks for your reply and information. When i started it was just random in the moment thing lol didnt expect the outcome at all. I was surprised by the actual quality of the bud the plants produced rather than the quantity witch was what made me continue my journey. I had no knowledge on what feeds or nutrients to use so i just decided to use rainwater as in my mind that as natural as could be. Like i said its literally so basic i use soil from my garden, felt pots, led light, rainwater and keep temperature level right. I dont check soil ph or water ph levels no additional co2 or feeds/nutrients. Would that help me boost final yields?
I grow outdoors so have no knowledge of co2 and my water ph at my house seems to be spot on so I’m not the best person to guide you on those issues but someone else will jump in. You must have some pretty good soil in your garden tho!
Nutrients would definitely help tho. If you want to keep it really simple do build a soil for organic nutes and Fox farm trio and cal mag for synthetic
I dont know if this is true or not but… i remember read somewhere that using soil from the garden would be as natural as can be in the wild and the plants have the ability to self regulate the nutrient uptake by its self?? Again another part of my journey that im fascinated by as iv never had any issues with deficiencies or plants struggling, iv had maybe 2/3 leaves total out of the plants iv grow slightly discolour but thats all. Every single one has bin completely healthy start to finish. Witch makes me wonder, im i just lucky or everything’s is just spot on
Sounds like that soil is really well balanced. In that case keep it simple and get the build a soil build a bloom and build a flower bags and add those as needed
I love seeing stuff like this, that never give up attitude is great. I usually say to avoid soil from outdoors unless that’s where you are growing but it is obviously working well for you so this might be an unpopular opinion but stick with it, however I would add a bit of perlite or vermiculite to add some extra drainage and aeration to the pots. The nutrients question is a little tricky, it kinda depends on how you want to grow, where you live which determines what is available and prices, if you care about organic stuff like that.
The only time I don’t think about ph is when growing outdoors directly in the ground, that’s where the soil can do the work for you because it’s more of a living environment but in pots that is very limited unless you are building a living soil and adding that ecosystem if that makes sense.
