Hi guys I think I might be in need of some new grow lights but I haven’t really figured out how to choose or what’s best.
I have 2 different lights right now, I have Giixer lights from Amazon and strip lights from Home Depot. Right now it looks like there’s a difference in wattage. I’m not sure if there should be something else I look for when picking out new lights.
My first grow i used the giixer lights and had beautiful plants. Tons of flower and overall was extremely surprised.
My second grow i used these strip lights from Home Depot my friend recommended so that I can expand my canopy. But the plants never flowered and I got fed up with trying to deal with how huge they got with no flower. I have a feeling it was the lights because I didn’t notice how low the wattage was compared to the other lights.
My third grow I went back to the giixer lights and everything was great again.
Now I’m on my fourth grow and I think my lights are getting weak because it should be flowering by now again and the only difference between any of my grows has been the lights.
I think I need new ones but don’t really know how to pick out lights. Any advice/help would be awesome!
I’m currently growing cola Kush that’s supposed to be flowering by now and I have white widow in veg and northern lights I’ll be germinating in a couple weeks. I have around 10 plants of each. Pictured is the kola Kush
Genetics, nutrients and lights are the three most important elements of a grow . . . and the 3 things that will have the biggest impact on quality and yield. Buy the best you can afford in lighting as it is the most expensive single ticket item to replace if you aren’t happy with a lamp.
Growers can be brand loyal, I run HLG lighting . . . but also own Mars Hydro, BestVA and Barinna lamps. With the exception of a gem of a 200w lamp from Barinna, plants are definitely happier under the HLGs.
What size canopy are you wanting to light?
Do your research on any brand or lamp before you buy so you don’t have/want to buy again right away.
I don’t typically grow autos, my next couple sets of grows aren’t which is why I’m asking about how to choose a new light. I see the big brands online but I’m not sure if it’s worth it to just get some of those or something cheaper again.
