Nice but it’s a bit congested in there. I’d recommend doing some defoliation to allow light and air to penetrate into that canopy, it will really help. All those buds not receiving direct light will result in larf.
Ok cool thanks, what’s larf ?
tiny, undeveloped, popcorn-like buds. If you need a guide how to defoliate just lmk
I’ll do some defoliation in the morning hopefully that will help, thanks for the advice mate
Yeah you want direct light hitting the bud sites as far as possible. Sites lower down not getting much light you can remove entirely (aka lollipopping), so the plant puts it energy into growing large buds higher up.
Thanks so much we’ve only been growing for about 10 months, with some success but we found our buds are small and very small yield, I’ll get onto the girls in the morning
That makes sense. Light is the number 1 factor in getting good yields. Cannabis needs a lot of intense, direct light to grow big buds.
No light - no buds.
So the whole purpose of training and defoliation is to maximise the amount of light hitting bud sites.
Outdoors, the sun is so powerful this is less necessary but in a tent it is absolutely essential to manipulate the plant to get the most light.
The idea is to get the plant to grow into a flat, wide tabletop shape rather than a tall thin, xmas tree shape if left alone. This means light is distributed evenly across all buds, rather than the ones at the top only.
There is an art and a science to this so if you don’t know how to do it properly then I would strongly recommend watching some vids on YT to see how it is done.
Only issue you have is that you are already flowering, you need to do the training part in veg. However you can still defoliate, and maybe bend some branches to even things up once you get what to do.
This should improve your yield massively.
Have fun!
Cheers mate I’ll definitely be taking on what you’ve said, we were worried about taking too much off in the veg state so thanks again
