@Tyler @Outdoorman or should I top a certain height?
Are you going with mainlining?
not sure what you mean ?
Do you mean topping the bottom leaves?
nah im meaning cutting the topbof the plant so itbdoesnt get taller and can bush out
The 6th node is fine. Its all preference.
I have topped after the 4th, 5th, and 6th. They all work well.
Just recently I topped after the 6th node, then 2 weeks later topped those 2 tops to make 4 “top” tops. THEN I topped the 3 branches below as well to make 6 tops into 12 to total 16 tops. After all was said and done.
I had some side branching off some of the lower 2 branches that made their way to the top of the canopy and I had 20 “tops.” The stems were thin and required staking to hold up the buds. But it yielded 115g of dried bud in the end. There is no limit to the topping nor is there a right or wrong way. Just make sure you train her sufficiently and then support her if you have to.
It took me a while to understand lol
im still lost lol
Train her sufficiently?? Support her? … I’m lost
what he’s trying to say if that if its a photo plant and in veg that u can top it as many times as u please u don’t have to wait for 6th node just what some ppl do some top after 3 and as they grow u can keep topping to basically double ur tops each time you do it. I think alot of the loss in that message was him trying to say some of the side branches shot up as tall as the tops to make it as if he was getting more top like buds
Sorry for the confusion. I tried to edit that post to make a little more sense.
What I am saying is that you can top as much as you want. You can top branches that are not even on the top of the plant to create more colas.
You are manipulating the plant to grow a flat canopy, you’re going to have to train her sufficiently to grow so the tops are even. If you don’t you’ll have buds that are closer to the light and therefore bigger than the others. So when topping, you just need to make sure that you are on top of your training. I use pipe cleaners and tent stakes to hold the branches down.
The issue I found with a lot of topping is that the stems don’t get very thick and they can’t support big heavy buds on their own. When that happens, just use stakes to support the buds so the stems don’t break. I use bamboo sticks and take the same pipe cleaners I used to hold the branches down, to hold the buds up against the bamboo.
