Thought I’d create a thread for people to post their favorite or otherwise outstanding strains they’ve grown.
I’ll start out by saying that most of the strains I’ve grown so far have been from mid-tier breeders such as Barney’s. I recently upgraded to so-called top-tier breeders and the difference is remarkable.
The Slipstream by Compound Genetics I just harvested is a good example. It’s a cross between “Animal Mints (Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies x Fire OG ), an extremely resinous line, with Jet Fuel Gelato , which provides a fruity flavour and petrol character that results in an burst of flavours.”
Whereas in the past I have found that many strains offer just one dimension of flavour experience (either fruity or gassy for example, not both), this variety is multi-layered.
It is fruity, gassy, minty and creamy. You can taste the heritage of each strain in the smoke. It is unbelievably good. It makes you want to keep smoking it even after you had enough. Best recommendation I can offer. @ItsOzzie you were right lol.
So, am looking for more of this multi-dimensional layers of flavours thing.
Is it just a high-end breeder thing or have you guys found stuff like this?
very good lemon taste based on parents => Lemon Haze x Juanita la Lagrimosa x Ruderalis
and the effect was excatly as described. Stress was totally killed.
Yeah I managed to catch a bud before it completely lost it’s terpenes, and yes, it was absolute fire. Like levels above.
It’s a shame this came out a few years ago, so any remaining seed stock is old, I think this is why I had problems germinating them otherwise I would buy another pack and find a mother.
But going forward will be looking for more of this type of strain, it has definitely set the standard so far.
That wedding cake sounds nice, has the same animal mints line as the slipstream. That original animal mints cut was supposed to be absolute fire when it was around.
Yes the high end breeders put in a ton of work for their strains. I found the same exact thing when I stopped buying cheap seeds and started going with the high end breeders. I don’t go through seedbanks when at all possible either, always better to try to get them directly from the breeder unless it’s something like inhouse genetics or square 1 , they don’t offer direct but they have verified vendors that I go through to get theirs. Even with the high end stuff, you will still have to deal with the problems of growing from seed, seeds not popping, weak growers and the lot of issues that arise from growing from seed instead of clones that have been pheno hunted.
If you’re on IG check out a guy called genetixmatter. He has a talent for growing and breeding fire. I’m a huge copycat and lit farms fan. Compound genetics, raw, square 1, in-house are all good breeders.
Thanks for the heads up, I’ll check them out. Only issue is they are USA based, only top tier breeder I’ve found over here is Karma, so it’s difficult to get the latest drops.
Not to mention they are $$$$. A pack of 10 can run $4-500 lol.
Anyone getting any of the new Compound drop? Just released. Am liking the sound of the Animorph mints, and Jet Puft sounds gassy AF - “HEAVY gas – think Burnt tires with some sweet minty marshmallow notes.” which I could be tempted into.
Not sure where you’re located but the best strain I’ve ever grown from a non-USA based breeder was Chempie from Ripper Seeds, a breeder that is, or was located in Spain. The bank I normally use never restocked any of their seeds and I haven’t found that particular strain available anywhere else. Two years since my last run and I still have people asking me for it . . .
A top notch USA breeder I rarely see mentioned is Mz Jill Genetics. Both their Jilly Glue and Jilly Bean Lime produce some very nice results. Not sure if they are available outside the USA or not.
Oh interesting, thanks for the heads up! I’m running ZMintz from Ripper right now.
They still have Chempie, so you should be able to get it. If you want it but have any problems just lmk and I can send you some if necessary.
MZJ is difficult to get here (Spain) though. And if I could, most US high end breeders are stupid money here. That’s why I thought this Compound drop was decent, a pack of 5 fems for $75 is not that bad for good US genetics, compared to $500+ for some. Insane prices.
I’ll be ordering seeds again after Christmas . . . if I can’t locate any Chempie myself I may take you up on the offer. In return I can send you some of the beans you’re interested in that may be difficult for you to put hands on. If your postal system/customs will pass them through and doesn’t charge $75 postage. I mailed a friend in Brazil a few seeds last year . . . 6-7 months to be delivered and seeds were dust by the time they got there.
