Just did my first topping might’ve did a little early but she’s growing strong so I don’t think it’ll go through to much stress
A friend made it too early. The plant still builds up the roots, I do after the sixth pair of leaves when it actively begins to build up the greens.
So you think I topped it too early?
I think it’s early. Next time, take your time, let the roots develop and as soon as it begins to actively increase the greens, do pruning. If the plant is healthy, this usually occurs by 5-6 pairs of leaves. You have the germ is just beginning to gain momentum.
A little bit too early. There’s a lot of back and forward about where to top correctly. Some people include the first serrated leaf in counting nodes, some start counting at the first leaf with 3 points. But we all agree it’s between the 4th and 5th node. Depending on how tight or separated my nodes are is dependant on if I count the first serrated leaf or not.
In your pictures, I would have waited for one more node to grow in before doing a topping. Like you said I think they’re strong enough they will recover nicely though. Biggest lesson anyone can teach you when it comes to growing is patience is everything. Any questions feel free to ask
I was thinking I did it to early to honestly but I’m worried about the lowe leaves not getting enough light early on it’s growing rapidly every day it’s not even 3 weeks yet it stretched a little longer then I wanted but I buried pretty far down for better support
It has 3 nodes I cut the 4th one that was coming in
Once the seed pokes through the soil, that is day one of seedling stage. It will be considered a seedling for 7-10 days. Vegetative stage starts after this, so I would say you’re in week 2 possible even week 1 of veg, still have plenty of time. I usually veg my girls for about 5-6 weeks. Can always let them go for longer, don’t be worried about following specific guidelines. Also with topping, it is a form of stress which will stunt growth for a couple days up to a week while it catches up and repairs itself.
Looking good. Are they autos? If not those pots are far too big to be starting in
Not 100% sure I got it from a bag I smoked i Germinated it was in a smaller pot before i transplanted to this 5 gallon
They got transplanted a tad bit too early. You want to make sure you grow a nice healthy root ball before transplanting that can cause stress and stunted growth in an important growth stage. I attached a picture of my girls they’re coming up on their 2nd week of veg and they’re still in solo cups. They’ll be in the cups for another few days than transplanted to 3 gallon pots for a couple weeks and then their final 7 gallon homes. If you feel the need to do something wait lol that was the best advice I’ve ever received when I started. It’s very exciting doing your first grow, I understand but these plants need lots of love and care never rush
That was some early topping. I usually wait at least for the 5th node. So the plant can develop a good main stem to support it all.
We will see how she turns out I agree I did transplant and top a little early but she’s still showing growth by the hours so I don’t think it was a terrible idea but I do have seeds coming in the mail today at least they should so my next grow I should be more prepared
new to growing cannabis here so excuse me if im wrong maybe its your camera? why is she kind of yellow? kind of looks like nitrogen deficiency. my plant is roughly your size (20 days) its a bit more greener…
im waiting for them to get a bit bigger before i top and also add some nutrients when i top to help them grow faster probably some worm castings and fish ferts… its in the plans just got to wait for them to get a bit bigger.
You think I need to go a little heavy on nitrogen next feed ?
