Trimming when what & how much

Im new finding out how everything works
I would like to know when do i start trimming?
What do i start trimming?
How much do i trim ?

Technical answer - when the moisture content in the bud reaches 62%.

IRL answer - when the outer buds and leaves feel dry but the middle is still squishy and maybe some of the smaller stems β€œpop” when you break them.

When it gets to this stage trim off the sugar leaves and anything that is not bud. Chuck a few into a jar with a hygrometer. Wait a few hours and check the reading. If higher than 62% burp the jars until you get to 62%, then they are good for storage. Try not to let them get lower than 55% or you will lose the terps.

There’s lots of good tutorials out there so no point me going into huge detail here but that is the gist of it.

I actually just did my first trim.Their fan leaves are bigger than my hand at 5 weeks. I basically leave the bottom fans and the tops and selectively trim the middle

lol I totally misread the OP and thought he meant harvesting.

from my notes:

1. Top when 6th node appears, taking off the 6th node and leaving a stub above the 5th. Prune 1st leaves and shoots
2. Wait until shoots reach 4 to 6" and LST them (you should have 8 branches, spread them out like a pizza)
3. Wait another week or so and top a second time when you have new branches on the 3rd node
4. Defoliate at 4-8 weeks of veg if needed (leaves that are not catching direct light or covering bud sites)
5. Wait at least a few days (ideally a week) from any pruning or defo before flipping to flower (should be around 25-30cm tall at flip)
6. At Day 21 of flower time to defo all bottom leaves and growth sites. Lollipop and remove all branches that have not made it to the canopy
7. 2 weeks before harvest reduce temps, RH and light intensity to preserve terps and add NRG to feed (2-3 weeks before harvest)
8. 1 week before harvest do a pre-harvest defoliation

You can wet trim or dry trim. A lot of videos out there.
