Hi folks! I generally use a bong (sometimes joints) to consume weed. I’m somewhat worried about what the smoke is doing to my lungs. I’ve heard that a vaporizer doesn’t produce smoke (but just vapor?) and gets you high. I’ve never used one.
Do folks have opinions on vaporizers? Will they get me as high as a bong?
Do folks have specific recommendations? Brands, features, etc.
I realize I could make edibles and I do sometimes make cannabutter and then chocolate chip cookies (yum!) but I don’t like waiting 1-2 hours for the edible to kick in. And I’m not particularly good at getting the dose correct in cookies. The first batch was too weak, the second batch was too strong.
Hi @bibsoconner , I tend to either vape or have edibles for the same reason.
I’ve got an Arizer XQ2 and it’s great. Gets me super high when I want to and has all the customisation you could need. From my research it was either that or the Volcano - from what I read the Arizer is basically the same but with a much lower price tag.
For me it’s a different high than smoking. Shorter high and flavor is changed. But you can use what’s left in your cartridge after you’re done for edibles since dry herb vapes basically decarb your weed, similar to putting it in your oven at a low temp.
One time I bought 1oz and really wanted to make it last, so I would load my dry herb vape, take a few hits, dump it into a jar. Kept revisiting the jar to get as much out of that ounce as I could. Lasted me a long time, close to a year lol
For me vaping is also not like the real deal. It’s a weaker and shorter high. But it will make you high.
I’m want to get an Lotus vaporizer but there sold out everywhere I look for them at least in the country I live. That one might be a goo choice for you to as a bong smoker.
I wouldn’t recommend vaping dry herb. It’s weak af, and doesn’t make the most of the material. Most people move on to vaping concentrates for this reason.
You get a similar level of hit as from a bong, with really amazing intense, clean flavor. The high hits hard but is not narcotic like from a bong, more creative and fun.
I’d look into vaping concentrates over flower, and my reco would be the Divine Tribe V5 with a box mod like a pico.
All I’m saying is going from bongs to vaping flower will be disappointing unless you are looking for a lighter experience.
If you want something better than a bong then concentrates are the way to go. Yes its quite a big area - there’s lots of different types of concentrate which can be a little confusing.
The main two types are made either with a solvent eg butane honey oil, or solventless (eg rosin). Many people prefer solventless for obvious reasons, which means getting a press. However you can try it out before by using hair tongs (yes really lol, search hair tongs rosin), which is super easy and will give you a good idea if rosin is for you or not. Basically you heat up the hair tongs ands squeeze a bud between the plates until the rosin oozes out. Scrape it up and vape it, or add it to a joint or bowl, simple as that really.
