Ok so I’m sure this is standard knowledge for most on here but I must share the fact that I’m pretty sure I no longer have to use pH UP or pH DOWN for the most part anymore. I recently switched up how I water my babies. I take the time to fill up a huge 3 g pitcher from the fridge door then I pour that thru a Brita filter pitcher. Granted it takes me a long time to filter all this water a second time due to the fact that the Brita pitcher does not hold that much at one time and after two pores you have to empty it into something and then start the process all over again but since doing this my water basically comes out at around anywhere from 6.2 to 6.7 on the pH side my EC has been cut in half I think yesterday’s numbers were around the 200uS my TDS has been cut in half which is around 150 ppt and my salinity is also been cut in half it’s about .15ppt and that’s basically what I use for the water and I’m wondering if anybody else’s come across this or what cuz my my water out of the tap usually the pH is usually in the mid eights and I was having to go through a lot of down in order to get it leveled off but now I don’t have to and I also have not had to worry so much about having to do major flushes and dunks to free up and get all the extra salts that have built up in there out if anybody else has had any experience and knowledge about anything like this I would greatly appreciate any feedback that anybody has on this topic cuz I’m thoroughly curious about it
Have you considered a water distillation machine? I got one off of Amazon. They are not too expensive. Denver water is very hard and alkeline. Comes out of tap at pH 8.1. Also has added sodium.
Takes a about 4 hrs to distill a gallon and puts off a lot of heat but the distilled water improved my grow. Water tests at 4 ppm and usually pHs in mid 6.8s. Distilled water readily absorbs CO2 and will lower the pH so you need to keep in sealed container.
RO filter is another option. They are pricey and replacement filters are expensive. They also waste a lot of water. I dont have any experience with it but some growers swear by it. Hope this helps ![]()

I use water from a underground well’
It doesnt change Ph’ but I also Havent calibrated 'thy tester ~ while it may say 9 ![]()
itz lower.
That is a pretty intense way to get water!
Plants need lotz of water
. This would just be frustrating too me’
Idk’ where I live we have plenty of free water from aquafers, maybe one of those or just gallon water from walmart ? I herd tap water has chlorine.
Your electric conductivity iz brilliant.
Thatz da plat rootz ability to grab minerals ![]()
You can get an ro system for like $150 on Amazon. For what it is I feel that’s pretty cheap.
Yeah denver city water sux. High pH, very hard and they wont pulish the Na levels. I kept running into lock out issues as i got a Na buildup in my soil. Distilling water is not a lot off work but it does take time. Here is what my distiller looks like after its done. All that nasty shit was going into my plants. Seen a complete turn around after I started using the distilled. Girls are hanging to dry now
