Best value… i dont want something super cheap that doesn’t work well. Thats just a waste of money. I also dont want to spend way more then needed. Something in the middle range of getting good quality light for a reasonable price. I see spider farms has a 4x4 rating light for about $450. I also seen some other lights on Amazon in the $350 range. I just wonder of the quality.

Check out medic grow smart 8. It’s a big bang for the buck.

Should i be looking for a minimum amount of wattage?

Try not to skimp on the light, you can skimp else where but invest in the best light you can.

What kind of yields do you want to grow, the space could support 1-2 pounds? The difference between harvesting 1/2lb or 2lbs is largely tied to coverage area and thus wattage.

Advice here, get most light you can live with, I didn’t and regretted it but you can expand like I did. The tough part for you I suspect is you don’t yet know what don’t know. I know I thought I would be thrilled with a half pound every couple of months, LMFAO! Too much is never enough.

Viparspectra ks5000 has been very good in a 4×4.

Go with HID unless you can afford true LEDS. Not to offend anyone answering to this tread but unless you are willing to spend alot of money stick with HPS. At least for flowering. I have spent thousands of dollars on lights over the last 20 yrs. If you have the scratch buys High Quality LEDS. If not HID is the way to go.

I run two Mars Hydro FC-3000’s, both are rated at 300W one is the Samsung version. Only flower LED’s I’ve used so I can’t compare. With just the consumer grade I was getting from 200-330g dry about the same as 400w HPS.
I expect about double that with both. It wasn’t by design but you can grow into the lighting.

Do you find 2 lights better then 1 light?
Example…

2 lights of 300watts = 600. With 2 spots of tent getting center par

Or

1 light of 600 watts the center of tent get most of the par.

No I doubt 2 overhead lights is better vs 1 single of similar output. But if one died you feel differently. No this in my case was done because my first light wasn’t enough for my needs. Mine are side by side like double wide only end to end. I use 4x6 closet though. In your case a light that gives a 4x4 coverage area is what you should be looking for. That’s going to put you in the wattage range where the price point jump a lot, just be prepared.

For what’s worth I think your 4x4 and approach is on a great track. If you have the means it’s a size that will keep the grow a manageable size. Getting started information overload is something you need to watch for. Keep it simple I can’t stress that enough starting out. You still need to study up stuff, but avoid trying to many techniques at once.

Keep the economic in mind too, I’m mixing 5 gals of feed nutes for my girls every other day.

Hps and mh are ancient tech. Dont waste your money buying one and then buying an led. Skip the horse and buggy.

It’s funny see the lights which are recommended here. You guys are properly coming from the north and south american continent. In europe no one uses spider farms, mars hydro or vipaspectra. In europe there are brands like sanlight, greenception or schiller the way to grow… :bulb:
