hello, I hope your doing well. So lately I have been sorta overwhelmed with this: I am sorta maxing out my 2x4 with 8oz or 224g per harvest. I have a 300W light in this 2x4 with good exhaust. So maybe it was just cause it was a medium plant. But I’m COMPLETELY back to the drawing board. And I just feel sorta at a loss for what to really do. Because am terrible with cloning and I’m just running stuff from seed, I’m running 5gals and I’m rn attempting to do 8 3gal plant in the 2x4 to try to get it to more, but I just wanna maximize my tent to to its full potential and try to double up on my yield output. I use Gaia Green dry ammendments nutrients, I use tap water with under 50mg (when I checked it before the cheap VIVOSUN one I had broke), I use calmag by bushdoctor. I’m doing manual watering but would be happy to switch to auto watering setup but I really don’t know what I’m doing there either. Basiclsly everything I’ve been doing is more or less self taught and just it’s been killing me that I can’t get more than 8 oz. And I just wanna be able to set this up good and understand it better. I have 3 2x4 tents and a 2x2 tent I can use with 100w, 200w, and 2x 300w lights. Im thinking of possibly trying like 18x 2gals in the 2x4 and do 30 days from dropping the seed in water to start germination that I’ll throw them all into flowering and maybe do no low stress training (that was recommended to be but all my learning has sorta gone away from the single tops so idk if just feels weird). So please please help, I’m at a loss and I feel so burned out from this, sleepless nice, over stressing g and it’s starting to take a toll on me. So please I’m reaching out to you, the community, to help me with this canundrum and allow me to maximize my tent and the genetics I have to the absolute fullest of their abilities. Thank you so much for your time.
Oh dear.
Can someone translate all of this into the metric system for me?
I understand that you have 3-4 tents and enough lighting equipment.
As for cloning, it depends on the technique, but basically, I very rarely have problems with it.
Always keep an eye on hygiene, disinfecting tools, etc.
Cut off the branch, if not cut directly, cut the surface with a scalpel or sharp knife at about 45 degrees, leave everything except 1-3 leaf nodes, shorten overly large leaves by a third, and then put them into moist propagation soil, without nutrients, put a lid on, and wait.
Then you can repot, also initially into nutrient-poor soil, or whatever else you use.
Otherwise?
My approach would be to reduce the number of plants per tent, which I’m doing right now, and thus create more space for them.
If you can get into a good rhythm, steady harvests can be achieved with 3 tents. ![]()
That’s all from me.
Now the pros can chime in ![]()

Conversion factor 30
2×2 = 60×60 cm
Thanks @herr_gruen
But I was talking about those old gallons.

18 pots in 120x60?
Or distributed among the existing tents in total? That might still work.
3.8 L = 1 gallon
Last time, in my 2x2 tent, I had a SOG with 9 plants and got a little over 160 grams after removing the moldy buds; otherwise, it would have been 180-190 grams. The advantage of SOG is the short vegetative phase of 14 days.
Pot size for SOG 1 gallon
That’s roughly how I’ve had it now too.
7 plants with 12-20l different pot sizes, tent full
But I’m going to
Are you running photos or autos? Either way, you should be able to push a lb in a 2x4 which is what I run too. I don’t think the light is an issue. Using a trellis net seems to really help open up the canopy. I also use 5 gallon pots. What kinda soil and nutrients do you use? Also, where you getting your seeds from? I run/have ran a very similar setup and seem to push a lb most runs, even when I was running autos
Just read again and saw you mention the Gaia green. @Demonrage75 uses that, so might be able to help guide you there
I run 2 10 gallon pots per 2x4 tent using Gaia Green. My last run i got 11 oz from 2 plants running 3 150-watt Viparspectra lights. I feel going organic you should use bigger pots. It can be difficult to feed small pots with dry amendments. I use 70/30 coco and perlite with 3/4 gallon of charcoal and red wiggle worms. I’m on my 5th run with the same medium, I cut out 1 plant out and replace it with another one. The pic is just before the last harvest I mentioned earlier.
Cloning is getting a technique down that works for you. I use the same Coco and perlite mix from my plants for my clones. I’ve found that you can use Aloe juices as a cloning solution but I usually use Clonex for my clones. Always cut extra clones bc rarely do you get 100% to root. I use red Solo cups with holes cut on the sides and bottom. I stack 2 cut cups and a uncut cup together. The cut cups allow air to the root zone and the 3rd whole cup catches and holds the extra water.
They are photoperiod strains. I use Gaia green 444 and 284 with bushdoctor calmag. Ph stays between 5.9-6.1. Trying to do 30 days from beginning of germination I flip them into flowering. that way I can harvest every 30 days
Was thinking of doing like 8 autos per 2x4 tent to really push everything but some stuff said that may actually work against me.
18 pots in 1 tent. Maybe just 15 idk
Even from seed you’d don1 gal? I’d think 1 gal would be a lil too small for full life, that’s why I thought about using the 2gal pots
For me, I feel it’s best to let them veg till they’re actually ready. Yeah, it adds a few weeks to each grow but you’d be getting a lb instead of 1/2 lb
If you do a quick SOG, you take 9 plants in a 2x2 in 1 gallon of soil, so they won’t get too big.
That was 14 days of growth and then straight into flower. The more plants, the shorter the vegetative phase to fill the tent.
If you’re looking for max yield from a given space/time seeds are off the table, as @Mjcalifornia said, from seed it’s best practice to allow vegging plants to reach sexual maturity before flip, approximately 5-6 weeks for most strains . . . using rooted clones reduces this to a 7-10 day veg.
Cloning can be as simple as cuttings in a glass of water to a $$$ cloning machine. You’re not terrible at cloning, you just haven’t found what works for you in your environment.
Reaching max yield would involve a B&T/SOG setup running clones, keeping mothers, soilless medium, chem salts, crop steering, fertigation, small pots, multiple reservoirs, drainage trays, pumps, timers, etc. Not simple and easy, much more labor intensive than growing a couple of plants seed to harvest but anyone willing to put out the effort should be able to pull 2-6 ounces a week from a 2x4 perpetually.
But unless you’re growing to sell or like smoking the same strain all the time it isn’t worth the effort. The first harvest takes longer than a seed grow because you have to establish mothers and get clones rooted. Strain changes are a pain.
Willing to put in the work and timing. So I am in the process of figuring out a mother plant and now got a AC Infinity propagation station with lights and the mat is otw and I have a hygrometer in there. I have been using Gaia green. With everything you guys have been talking about so far. I feel like doing clones, and planting into 1 gal pots with a top dressing of Gaia green 444, will get em through quick veg, then flowering and top dressing ~7 days into flowering. And on day 37 so I don’t burn em and they stalk all organic, and I sorta can’t do any topping or lst or nothing and have to let it all just go. And while I do agree the longer veg time is good. I have currently been running ~60 days from beginning of germination to flip into flowering and the shower indicas were fine but the sativas were basically exploding into my lights. Even with them as high as they could go, so maybe clones for 14 days in the propagation dome, 30 days in a veg tent in I’m thinking 2x2’s, then send into flowering without transplanting still in the 2gals. Idk, I am just aiming for a harvest every 30 days, with everything I have gotten so far like as of lights and tents, I think I should be able to get a harvest every 30 days with a staggered harvest of 60 day flowering per tent.
I’m sorry if I botched any of this I just smoked a good bowl of dry sift and I’m super fried.
I have the filter in the inlet part of the exhaust fan, so for it to work properly it’s gotta be on the inside sadly
It’s because I like to have flower as well as hash, as well as some wax. A bit of everything, and my friends enjoy it as well lol. But 8oz has been around what I’ve been getting the past 2, and I’ll be frank I’m running out within 2-3 weeks, and I know yall are gonna say “damn you should just smoke less then” and while you definitely got a point, it somewhat don’t change the fact I just wanna push out more. Cause I be seeing people doing like 16 oz from a. 2x4 online and it would just feel so good as a grower to reach there and I know I eventually will if I keep trying and learning and tweaking the grow. But I wanna be able to ge more before/without going to a larger tent. Or atleast get it up to like 12-16 ox if not 16 oz. Again 8 oz has been amazing and enjoying my own bud is so much higher quality than the dispensary. But I wanna find out how I’m doing this in efficiently or where I could be going wrong.
Hell maybe it’s the 300w light and I need to upgrade to a 450 wat 2x4 bar light or get some side lighting and under lighting so I can maximize without breaking the bank. Idk. But I’m just tryna get that 450g milestone with the 2x4. And personally I don’t like hydroponics, beautiful systems, absolute work of art, but I feel the terps are better from full organic and even living coco organic than hydro. But I do agree it can kick out more yield but on that note I’ve had a terrible unlucky streak with hydro ![]()
