Look at trichs. Am I already close to ready? Help me
I dont know what to look for
You need a Carson microscope with at least 60x magnification to see the trichomes. When they are cloudy white with a touch of amber they are ready. My feeling is they are not ready via the photos.
First consider how many weeks the flower time is for your specific strain. Are you close to that? Second, the pistils on the flowers will begin to turn amber and then darker brown the closer they get to ripening. Also, the closer they get to ripe the more sugary they will look. That sugar is the trichomes.
Thats when you need to start looking at the trichomes through the microscope to catch them at the precise time. The more amber the trichomes get the more thc levels are breaking down into different cannabinoids. The effect will be sleepiness and couch lock. So you’ll want to catch them when they are ripest and before they become over ripe. This is probably a 3-5 day window.
You can start worrying about the trichs once the pistils turn color and shrivel up. As I see it, she still has quite a bit of whites. To my eyes anyway. Just my opinion.
Nevertheless, plant is looking great.
Great looking plants but I don’t see anything ready with a naked eye, as @Outdoorman said you’ll need a microscope or jewlers loupe to determine when they are ready
This is a good guide to tell when its ready, get a microscope see the trichomes close enough and monitor them daily when you know your close to your strains end of flowering time phkto 1 is not ready photo 2 is close and photo 3 is time to harvest
Excellent photos for instruction.
Took these using microscope connected to cell. What yall think. @Outdoorman @canagen @NicoZ
I try to vet better pics today
Nice. I see amber here and there. If it were me, I would give another week then check again. You’ve gone this far…
Pretty close. I would check it often. If you haven’t yet, I would start flushing asap.
I would wait for more amber but they look great. Nice & cloudy & it doesn’t look like there are very many clear trichs left!
I’ve read that you can harvest when a high percentage are cloudy for a more uplifting stone vs. a high percentage of amber for more of a sedative effect.
Anyone else know anything relating to that??
I have always aimed for 25% ish amber before harvest. I imagine all strains will have their optimum potency at different ratios
Took these a few minutes ago. Yall still saying wait. I dont know what strain they are as they were gifted clones. 2 different strains. This particular 1 looks close to ready for me. The other still have white hairs sticking straight out.
@209MIKE These are todays pics
Still learning to use the scope.
I’d probably harvest
What week are you on here?
I dare you to leave it a week more
I would do as @Outdoorman said, watch them often enough. They have a way of ambering up quickly. The first, second and third pic looks real good for amber.
Nice job.
Week 7 day 46 is what the app says
