Hey and greetings to all. The weekend is coming to an end again and I used Sunday, also at my place, to take a closer look at my 2 clones.
@herr_gruen, I see that yours have recovered very well!
So it should continue really well now. All standing nicely at the same height.
Super!
Back to what’s coming today, beautiful pictures from me.
The Autumn Fade is in full swing, the clones are drawing on their nutrient reserves to bring the last nutrients into the flowers.
So I felt compelled to defoliate both today, and I removed many fan leaves, a bit everywhere, that already had dry brown edges.
But everything is optimal, because;
today is flower day 48. So I’ve arrived 10 - 15 days before their end.
I have now lowered the RH to 43 - 45% and kept the temperature below 25 degrees during the day. At night, during the dark phase, the temp is at 18.4 - 19 degrees and the RH at 49 - 53%. Except due to yesterday’s watering and a rainy night, the last night was an outlier with the RH at 57%, which should not cause any Botrytis problems just once.
Defoliation at this time has the advantage of greatly helping with the ventilation of the flowers.
It prevents decaying plant material near the flowers from retaining moisture.
And so it has already become considerably freer in the clones!
And I continue to keep them clean, repeatedly removing leaves that can be pulled off with slight tugging.
I also raised the lamp by 5 cm today to take some more heat off the flower tops.
I will now only keep the soil slightly moist, reducing watering in the last few days to trigger a slight stress situation that stimulates them to maximize their resin production one last time.
A kind of final defense reaction before the end of life, that is one thing…
Clone 1, what I see, saw today, I simply love it!
The buds have slightly increased again. On some, it almost looks like tumors are growing. ![]()
And this even purpling.
This trichome coverage.
… the other due to watering,
for the last days, the “hot phase”.
I am now exercising caution when watering:
Since the plant now has hardly any leaves, or significantly fewer, the transpiration rate has significantly decreased. It “drinks” less. Therefore, I make sure that the substrate does not stay wet for too long – otherwise, this greatly increases the risk of mold in the last few days.
The view today, that’s exactly the sight you wish for just before harvest.
Clone 2
This bud before defoliation
… and the same after slight defoliation.
A beautiful carpet of flowers.
Starting next week, I will begin to photograph the trichomes magnified to determine their ripeness. I am aiming for milky, little glassy, and 5 - 10% amber.
Living Soil, active soil:
Since I use an organic system, the “Autumn Fade” that my plant is currently showing is even more natural and desired than in mineral systems.
The soil microbiology has regulated nutrient uptake throughout the entire cycle. My plant is now “maturing” in its own natural rhythm, without me having to worry about “chemical over-fertilization”. This will be massively reflected in the taste and aroma (terpene profile).
So I am more than satisfied with this run.
This will be awesome weed.
Every now and then, I put the fan leaves into the worm bin to return the nutrients that the plant extracted from the Living Soil back into the worm castings, i.e., directly back into the cycle.
A win-win situation!
That is the true spirit of a Living Soil gardener.
The worms convert the material into excellent worm castings, which I can then use as top-dressing for my next run. ![]()
Unfortunately, there was a small setback with the IMO collection.
Korean Natural Farming - collecting Indigenous Microorganisms!
Although I obtained beneficial organisms, I did not process the whole thing into IMO 2 because the product was contaminated with countless fungal cultures because I had chosen the wrong location.
So another attempt will follow soon, but then untouched by humans in the deep forest. Because if it’s worth doing - it’s worth doing right.
Have a nice evening and continue to have fun cultivating, wishes Pflanzenpaule
