Good evening, gardeners near and far.
I had a good idea this morning. Instead of having the small dehumidifier standing in the room, I put it in the tent. But since noon, it’s been fine without it again.
I still had a few things to do.
Defoliated the ladies from below and inside above. Removed three thin, long shoots from the Jamaican plant that were spreading out under the net in the shade.
Because they didn’t want to grow tall, I made short work of them. The three are now also in the propagator.
It’s been running for ten days now, so I cleaned the thing today and gave it fresh water. This time, a bit more Hesi Root Complex, Zyme, and for those that already have small roots, some TNT, growth nutrient. Of course, the pH was set to 6.5.
Three 9-liter pots were also prepared today. 3 liters of coco coir, 4 liters of worm castings, 2 peat jiffy pellets thrown in without the casing, and three tablespoons of biochar. The rest was perlite from the open bag, 57 grams of Mycorrhiza and Trichoderma, and the remaining amount was Light Mix. Everything was thoroughly mixed into the pots, and predatory mites were added.
3-4 quite fat Alaska nightcrawlers were also added to each pot and thoroughly watered. I’ll pick out the best cuttings in the next few days.
Today, after 5 days of travel in too warm conditions and interrupted cooling, the nematodes arrived.
How else could it be?

It was already just a sticky mess in the bag. It’s good when the carrier material is loose and powdery.
From experience, I saw what was coming.

And as you can see, it no longer dissolved in water.
The product was junk, dead, useless.
Dead, confirmed by a look through the microscope.
Unfortunately, I already knew this yesterday and contacted support.
That one can no longer speak of quality when something is taken out of cooling and then lies around for several days in much too warm and high humidity conditions somewhere and doesn’t arrive.
The answer was that everything was okay and the sachets were breathable, and that it guaranteed 5 days of transport.
Today, I gave the appropriate review.
The pictures showed that nothing was in order, and I asked again what “breathable” has to do with temperature.
That DHL messes up, they can’t help that.
But they want to try and pull a fast one on me.
I think they’ll have to find another idiot. Now I’m curious about their response.
I paid good money and got crap because it was too long in too warm conditions, and I can remember times when such things were packed in cooling gel pads, and predatory mites and nematodes came in one shipment.
Then it would have been here 3 days ago and in order.
If someone then wants to market “quality airs” to me, which I didn’t ask for. Mmmh, one could…
That’s exactly how I saw it coming as the days passed and nothing arrived.
Because I haven’t been working with beneficial insects just since yesterday, and it’s already expensive enough.
Good thing I still had some predatory mites in the can, which then landed on the moist soil of the three new pots. A bag of Dope Soil ready mix.
After that, I’m done, and I’m switching to mineral. Then you can dump neem oil into the soil, and gnats are flattened.
Maybe my substrate will only be water in the future, we’ll see.
There’s no gnat problem yet.
But such crap can quickly become a problem, and I experience it again and again. Sad but true!
Wishing you a pleasant night’s rest.
