In recent years, I’ve never taken longer with plants than the breeder specifies for flowering time.
Most of the time, the plants were even ready a week earlier. Peach Crescendo by Ethos is listed at 70-80 days. Both of mine were ready after 63 and 67 days.
@KilliczGe
what is a top dressing? I got a craving for a canna salad when I read that . Sorry if that’s something well-known and I’m just clueless again otherwise looks really awesome brother
@_Magic
Nice harvest Congrats on this grow. How long did the harvest take? And how are you drying and curing now?
@Andy_420
Let’s go, the final stretch, man those buds are bending due to the density awesome
Such a shame about the pineapple, I hope you have healthy leaves left for flowering! But the rest looks incredible, the pistils look very beautiful and fat, I see you’ve done a great job there, upload photos after pruning so we can see them!
I am also proud of myself (not meant in an ego way). As you already said @herr_gruen, for my 1st grow with my own 2 hands, I am so satisfied. I didn’t even think I’d make it this far.
And you played a small part in that too. With your good advice & helpful tips I hope I can get the drying done great too. For curing I have Grove Bags with mini hygros, so everything should actually go smoothly. Store bags in the dark, not too warm, for 2-4 weeks at 58-62%. And then…
Hey @Andy_420
No, I don’t go by the condition of the pistils. But part of their appearance can give clues.
I’ve experienced before that all the pistils were still light and the trichomes were already ready, and the coloring of the pistils only came during drying!
The 3 weeks was meant regarding personal preferences, because if you prefer more milky for an invigorating effect, you’re pretty well off with 10 days.
Well, having more amber doesn’t mean it has no effect, but rather more couch lock. Meaning you’re more narcotized and can’t get your ass up anymore.
To be in a balanced range, it should be around 10 - 20% amber, but then again it depends on the strain.
So again, - It comes down to personal preferences.
To explain the ripening thing a bit further, the temperature factor also plays an important role.
Because this can also contribute to faster or slowed maturation. But I don’t want to say anything wrong here and would need to read up on it again.
In the end, it’s always very important to look at the trichome heads and not at the sugar leaves on or off the bud, but the trichomes on and in the bud, on its calyxes.
A 100% milky doesn’t exist anyway because there’s always a remaining part that’s clear and/or amber.
I think at around 80% milky, you get an uplifting head high and THC production is at its peak.
Then over time amber is added, and with 10 - 20% of it, you get a broader spectrum of active ingredients.
I myself am still testing where my preferences lie because it’s damn hard to hit the right spot.
Example Mexican. Had it 2x now, and once harvested at the end of the 10th flowering week with a bit more amber.
The last one harvested with more milky and less amber in the 8th week.
The first one accordingly has a significantly more intense and very delicious aroma.
The effect is clearly different and pleasant.
With the more milky version, it gets you high too, but totally different and I’m missing that exact aroma.
At least the Mexican is now going to run more towards 10 weeks later in flowering to have a bit more amber in the bag.
Have a nice day then
@BluntForceTrauma420
oh yes, I had noticed the difference, just as I described earlier with the Mexican.
With it, I found the aroma significantly more intense (delicious) with a bit of amber,
than predominantly milky. I really miss that very delicious aroma there.
In the end, how much longer you have to let the plant mature also depends on various factors. Nutrients, watering, light, and climate.
Stated flowering weeks on the pack are plants grown under laboratory conditions.
I don’t think anyone here has that lab setup.
That’s why our plants often end up standing a bit longer after all. Because the plant doesn’t read labels either, but goes through its cycle as the climate and surrounding conditions allow.
Well, the thing with the drying part ties your hands a bit because often only part of the harvest can be stored in it.
So I’m always trying to make it all work somehow.
Have a nice day
Hey guys, wanted to transplant the last 2 seedlings into their final pots today, but somehow I just can’t get going.
Smoked a bit extra the last 2 days, took its toll.
I’m not 20 anymore either.
So I ended up sleeping in quite a bit today.
The grandkid was already there, so first we went out on a little tour.
Now I’m sitting my ass flat here at my daughter’s place.
Family party!
Now she’s already 31 years old and you wonder where all those years went so fast again.
Well, today is another day where I just don’t look into the tent.
Then I can’t overwater anything either.
Let’s see what sight awaits tomorrow, and tomorrow I’ll repot the last 2.
Today is family day then.
You don’t get everyone together that often anymore.
So I’m outta here again.
